Kids have some good things to go and parents get a break (smile)! Well that brings back the start of our Rotary year as well. We had so much fun with making and serving food to our community at our Town's July 4th event. We gave out free popcorn and chips to those who bravely came out with the storms coming our way on Labor Day. We all had great fun sharing, laughing, and huddling under the pavilion. Today our club announces the RYLA event planned for Martin Lu- ther King weekend in January. RYLA stands for: ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS. It is a great opportunity for one of our local area's sophomores or juniors to attend one fun and challenging long weekend! The fl yer is below. Please email us or call us for an application. Our club is sponsoring one student, so there is no cost to you. This is an invaluable weekend of learning, stretching, challenge and fun. You will be amongst 200 or so fellow students from all over Arizona! Deadline is October 30, 2015, so don't delay! Interviews will be here in mid-November. Stay tuned for more events and news coming up, have a great winter season, it's coming soon! Every year, thousands of visitors come to enjoy the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of- fered at BLM´s Long Term Visitor Areas (LTVAs), where visitors may camp for as long as seven months. Winter visitors who wish to stay in an LTVA, must purchase a long term permit. Long Term Visi- tor Area Permit is required from September 15th through April 15th each season. The cost is $180.00 and is valid for up to 7 months. A Short Term Permit can be pur- chased for a 14-day stay. This permit is $40.00. Permits may be purchased on site or at the BLM Yuma Field Offi ce in Yuma. From April 16th through Septem- ber 14th, the fee is $10 per vehicle for day-use, $15 per vehicle for overnight use, or $75 annually per vehicle, for up to 5 people per ve- hicle. There will be a $1 per person fee charged for each person over the 5 person limit. The maximum BLM LTVA opens Sept. 15 stay is 14 days in a 28-day period. Visitors must pay daily fees or purchase annual permits at the La Posa South Contact Station or at the BLM Yuma Field Offi ce. The LTVA was created in 1983 to fulfi ll the needs of winter visitors and to protect the local desert eco- system from over-use. The camp- ground is approximately 11,400 acres in size, fl at landscape, sparse- ly vegetated with plants such as Creosote bushes, Palo Verde trees, Ironwood trees, Mesquite trees and various species of cacti. In addition to existing rules and regulations, there are thirty three supplemental rules which are used to help manage the campgrounds. These rules are published each season in brochure format. Take highway 95 south to the four campgrounds. The campground entrances are approximately 2 miles south of town.
