"ConeyIsland"isdryterri- tory and R. J. Williams must stand trial for selling liquor withinitsboundariesaccord- ingtoadecisionandopinion filedWednesdaymorning by Judge J. F. Ellison. As told exclusively in the News, Judge Ellison found in looking up the case that the Board of Su- pervisors who redistricted the county in 1889, form- ing districts, the descrip- tion of whose boundaries furnished the basis for the only defense used by J. T. Matlock, attorney for Wil- liams, rescinded their ac- tion a few months, throw- ing the county back into the original districts, as bounded by an ordinance enacted in the early '80s. By this ordinance all the territory in Tehama County east of the Sacra- mento river was thrown into one district. By add- ing to and taking away various election precincts to other districts from time to time the present boundaries of the districts were attained. — Sept. 16, 1915 100YEARSAGO... Luis Fuentes, 33, also known as Luiz Yan- tuche, was charged with three counts, prosecu- tors said. The district attorney's office alleges special cir- cumstances — multiple murders and use of a knife in a killing — that would make Fuentes eligible for the death penalty, but prosecutors said they have not yet decided whether to seek capital punishment. Fuentes was being held without bail and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. It wasn't clear whether he has yet hired an attorney who could be reached for comment. Authorities allege Fuen- tes used a knife to kill his young sons — 8-year- old Alexander Fuentes, 9-year-old Juan Fuen- tes and 10-year-old Luis Fuentes. A furniture store owner found the bodies. Fuentes was in the front seat bleeding from stab wounds to his chest with a knife sitting next to him but survived his injuries, authorities said.
