She did some research and liked what Seabury stood for: promoting individual academic growth and character development through an excellent education rooted in moral principles. There was initial hesitation from her mom upon the request to transfer schools, but the more Kaylin talked about it, the more they agreed this would be for the best. Kaylin's 10th-grade year marked her first at Bishop Seabury. During her three years at Bishop Seabury, Kaylin became very involved in extracurricular activities. She was president of student senate, a member of the dance team, ran cross country, and was a prefect her senior year. Kaylin was also very focused on academics, graduating co-valedictorian of her class in 2006. "Seabury is fortunate to have high-caliber teachers on staff. They prepared me for college in ways I may not have been at other schools. I felt confident with entrance exams, writing essays, and the overall college experience, whereas some of my peers were struggling with what Seabury trained me to do." Kaylin graduated from the University of Kansas in 2011 with a degree in French. She returned later that fall and earned a second degree—East Asian language and culture with an emphasis in Mandarin—in 2012. Earlier this year, Kaylin completed her master's degree in the same field. "A full-time job while completing graduate school is more than a lot of people can manage at one time. I do believe, however, that Bishop Seabury gave me the skills to be independent and strong- minded. I gained the ability to take projects and run with them, and I'm more apt to use my creativity to solve a problem on my own instead of following a set path to get a solution. My job is 95% problem solving, so that definitely comes in handy." Today, she works as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, assisting her team with research and financial planning. Looking back, Kaylin has nothing but fond memories of Bishop Seabury. She and her husband, Grayson Dillon '06, attend Seabury sporting events and auctions. "I'm always proud to say I'm a Seabury alum, and I wish everyone could have the same experience I had." Kaylin and Grayson live in Lawrence. She is currently studying for the Certified Financial Planner exam, but in her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, golfing, traveling, and spending time with friends. You can contact Kaylin at kaylin.dillon@morganstanley.com. 4 "A full-time job while completing graduate school is more than a lot of people can manage at one time.
