The following defen- dants were sentenced in Tehama County Superior Court, according to the Tehama County District Attorney's Office: RecentState/ Local Prison Commitments: People vs. Richard Kaufman, 1st degree Resi- dential Burglary Brief history: A home- owner arrived home to dis- cover his home ransacked, and saw the Defendant fleeing from the house. The homeowner subdued the Defendant by firing warn- ing shots into the ground. The Defendant was carry- ing items stolen from the house. Sentenced to 5 years State Prison People vs. James Smith, Evading with Reckless Dis- regard Brief history: Corning Police attempted to make a traffic stop on the Defen- dant for Vehicle Code viola- tions. The Defendant fled at speeds of 65-80 mph on So- lano Street. The Defendant ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, then continued until his vehi- cle was disabled. The De- fendant had served seven prior prison terms, three of them for Evading with Will- ful Disregard. Sentenced to 5 years State Prison People vs. Charles Paul, Possession of Controlled Substance for Sale with prior strike. Brief history: The De- fendant was suspected of dealing drugs. TCSO made a traffic stop and CHP as- sisted with a drug sniff- ing dog. Officers found pound of methamphet- amine in five bags, plus a large amount of cash and cell phones with sales-re- lated texts. Sentenced to 4 years State Prison People vs. Jesse Lough- miller, Possession of Dirk or Dagger, Domestic Bat- tery; Corporal Injury to Co- habitant Brief history: On Janu- ary 27, 2014, the Defendant was placed on felony proba- tion for possession of an il- legal weapon arising out of a domestic incident with his then-girlfriend. He admit- ted violations of probations on May 27, 2014 and again on February 23, 2015, but was reinstated. On Janu- ary 31, 2015, he punched his new girlfriend in the face, causing a bloody nose. On July 15, 2015, he locked his mother in her house against her will. Sentenced to 2 years State Prison People vs. Dionicio Cuel- lar, Transportation of Con- trolled Substance, Trans- portation of Marijuana Brief history: The De- fendant was stopped by CHP for traffic violations. A dog alert led to the dis- covery of 100 pounds of marijuana and two pounds of methamphetamine in the car. Sentenced to 2 years County Jail and 2 years Mandatory Supervision Recent County Jail Commitments: People vs. Evette Arel- lano, misuse of CalFresh benefits Brief history: The Defen- dant was receiving welfare payments for which she was not eligible due to income from her job, which she was not reporting as required. Sentenced to 180 days county jail with three years probation. People vs. Zackery Nix, Evading with Willful Dis- regard Brief history: The Defen- dant attempted to evade a traffic stop by fleeing on his motorcycle at speeds of 70- 120 mph on Highway 99W, Flores Ave, and I-5. He even- tually stopped and submit- ted to officers. Sentenced to 120 days county jail with three years probation. People vs. Robert Jor- gensen, vehicle theft Brief history: Officers caught the Defendant and another suspect attempt- ing to break into and start a pickup truck that had be- longedtoadeceasedperson. The Defendant claimed the deceased owner had given him the truck, but further investigation proved that claim false. Sentenced to 120 days county jail with five years probation. People vs. Gary Dunehew, Sr., Felon in possession of Ammunition Brief history: On a traffic stop, the Defendant had a shotgun shell in plain view in his vehicle, despite prior felony convictions. Sentenced to 90 days county jail with three years probation. People vs. Cody Reynolds, Possession of Metal Knuck- les Brief history: The Defen- dant was a passenger in a vehicle stopped because the occupants were reported as acting suspiciously. The Defendant admitted that a set of metal knuckles found under his seat belonged to him. Sentenced to 60 days county jail with three years probation. Upcoming Court Dates -Trials, Preliminary Hearings (PX) & Pre Trial Conferences (PTC): People vs. Quentin Ray Bealer, Murder. Brief history: Defendant was arrested and charged with the murder of a 14 year old victim who had been reported missing when she never returned home from school. Officers located the victim's body two days later. PTC/MIL: September 15 at 9 a.m. in Department 27 (Sacramento) TBJ: September 28 at 8 a.m. (Department to be de- termined) People vs. Joseph Cadotte, Voluntary Man- slaughter with Special Al- legation Prior Any Felony; Battery with Serious Bodily Injury with Special Allega- tion Prior Any Felony Brief history: The Defen- dant saw the victim walk- ing down the street, when he approached him and punched him. The victim fell to the ground where the Defendant continued to punch and kick the vic- tim. The victim later died. PTC/MIL: September 28 at 1:15 p.m. in Department 3 TBJ: Vacated (to be reset at a later date) People vs. Travis John Kilburger, Solicitation of Murder (2 counts) Brief history: Defendant was in custody on domes- tic violence charges when he solicited another inmate to kill two individuals in ex- change for cash and a ve- hicle. PTC/MIL: September 4 at 11 a.m. in Department 1 TBJ: September 23 at 1:30 p.m. Department to be determined People vs. Poly Duenas Sanchez, Lucio Nenecia Madera, Gabino Madera Murder with Special Alle- gation Personal and Inten- tional Discharge of a Fire- arm, GBI, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime with Spe- cial Allegation Personal and Intentional Discharge of a Firearm, GBI. Brief history: Victim had met up with the three De- fendants regarding money that was allegedly owed to the victim. During this confrontation the victim was chased down and shot twice with a shotgun. The victim died as a result of his injuries. PTC: October 26 at 1:15 p.m. in Department 3. TBJ: December 2 at 1 p.m. Department to be de- termined. People vs. Alan Duane Doulphus Jr., Chase Alan Doulphus: Murder, special allegation felony murder, personal and intentional, use of a firearm, assault with a firearm, false impris- onment by violence, trans- portation of marijuana. Brief history: The defen- dants went to a residence that contained a marijuana grow. The defendants con- fronted the victim and two other men who were at the residence and ordered them to the ground at gun- point. The defendants pro- ceeded to tie up the victim and the two men with zip ties and duct tape. The vic- tim was able to free himself and attempt to flee the res- idence but was shot several times by the armed defen- dants. The victim eventu- ally succumbed to his in- juries. Defendant's vehicle was located a short time later and a vehicle pursuit followed. Defendant's were eventually apprehended and taken into custody. Inside the vehicle officers located a large amount of marijuana. PTC: October 2 at 11 a.m. in Department 1 TBJ: October 14 at 9 a.m. Department to be deter- mined People vs. John Noonkester, Willful, De- liberate and Premeditated Murder with Special Alle- gation, Personal and Inten- tional Discharge of a Fire- arm, GBI (2 counts), At- tempt: Willful, Deliberate and Premeditated Mur- der with Special Allega- tion, Personal and Inten- tional Discharge of a Fire- arm, GBI. Brief history: The Defen- dant is charged with shoot- ing and killing his ex-wife and her father, and shoot- ing a bystander. The Defen- dant plead not guilty.
