Chapter poised For another suCCessFul Year
Undergraduates Focus on Campus Involvement, Recruitment, and Philanthropy
A
s the semester begins, the undergraduate members of Tau Chapter
grow restless with excitement for another fall semester and all the
fun that comes with it. With much to look forward to, the undergraduates
welcome our alumni to Theta Chi to join in the activities
throughout game day season, renew friendships and enjoy
food and beverages at the Chapter House.
As all members of our organization strive to maintain
our status as one of the premier fraternities on campus,
fall recruitment is our top priority. Fortunately, thanks
to alumni support, the addition of a new Chapter House
consistently draws a significant percentage of the total
IFC recruits through our front door during recruitment
week. While this advantage gives us an outstanding
opportunity for new men to join our fraternity, recruitment
efforts remain steadfast. This summer, brothers enjoyed a
beach day as well as a Ginnie Springs float trip with prospective
recruits.
Spring 2015 was an eventful and enjoyable semester. We traveled
to Camden, South Carolina, for our formal to the Carolina Cup,
initiated 15 new members, and stormed the field after winning the
IFC soccer intramurals championship. The undergraduates have many
accomplishments to be proud of, including our contribution to the
University's campus-wide philanthropy, Dance Marathon, as well as
our other community service projects. We have upheld our reputation as
campus leaders not only in academics, but in involvement as well. Jesse
Sands '12 and Bobby Finigan '12 were both tapped into the prestigious
Florida Blue Key leadership honorary. Bobby was also named chairman
of Student Government Productions and Dakota Woll '12 was
elected chairman of Gators Going Green.
Moving into the fall semester, the Chapter loses a valuable
asset, House Director Garrick Harding '08, who
graduated law school this spring and will practice
business litigation in Stuart, Florida. With Brother
Harding leaving Gainesville, the Chapter gained
another helping hand when our Director of Health and
Safety, Jake Hightower, volunteered to fill the position.
Jake is a well-qualified candidate researching disease
epidemiology in graduate school here at UF. The Chapter is
privileged to have him.
Once again, thank you for all that you do to support the Chapter. We look
forward to seeing you this fall.
Fraternally,
Griffin Rapp '13
