Areyouready?Areyou ready to do this? Are you committed? I am so commit- ted. I am so ready. But what hap- pens if I fail? I've said I'll do it before. I've followed the yellow brick road and ended up stumbling along a rocky landscape. I know what that's like, and it hurts too much to lose the spark, to do a face plant in the mud yet again. The ex- hilaration of reaching my dreams is not worth the pain of shattered hope. You say you don't care, but you know it's not true. Yearning does not evap- orate; it shrinks, doubts, and hides, but never dis- appears. Inner spirit is in- capable of doing a van- ishing act. I'll give you that periodically it needs time to process and evolve from life's lessons. Lessons are not failures. They be- gin from the moment you reach for more. As a child, you fell but got up. As you aged, you simply fell more spectacularly. Marriage number one flopped. You got fired. Credit cards got out of control. Life lessons, each of them. Learn from them or not, but you didn't give up. But it hurt. I was ashamed, embarrassed, even scared. Of course you were. It is common to feel like giv- ing up or — at times — to feel like you did. However, nobody changes because they are happy and com- fortable. Pain is the fuel that ignites change. Fear forces movement. Those feelings are that same in- ner spirit pushing you from a bad place, insis- tently believing in better for you. If you didn't feel pain when you touched a stove, you'd burn your hand. It is protection. Even when it feels like it, your spirit does not abandon you. It speaks as intuition when you are uncertain, gut feel when you doubt. In dark times, it reaches out — but you must be ready. There are no guarantees against lapses; I'll give you that. They — whomever "they" are — proclaim that if you really want to do it right, you've got to change your "lifestyle." Expect to do this until you die. Really? I haven't done anything my whole life ex- cept breathe — but I don't have to think about that. I can't even imagine the end of my days, how I can I today, right now, be sure I'll still want to do this for that long? See, here's the thing. "They" are wrong. The truth is you just need to find your way now. Be- cause right now is all you have. The Universe does not want us to fail; we were not put here as some form of cosmic laughingstock. I even accept that some- times it might just be plain, dumb, good luck holds you on course. But you will always find your way back, no matter how long it might take. You are ready for confi- dence to show. You like you more when you shine. You smile. You strut. Say to yourself — loudly. "I can do this!" Forget what tomorrow may bring. Grab today, there is noth- ing else. Right now, this very minute. Take action. Do it boldly. Don't wait un- til later. Do one thing be- fore you can convince yourself not to. Glow in that success. Do it again. Feel it again. Call a friend. Share with your family. Sa- vor the joy. Hold it in you until you can no more. When times get tough, hold on with white knuck- les if that's all you've got but always fight the good fight. You can do this. You have done this. You are do- ing this. It begins so easily; with few words. Are you will- ing? Are you ready? "I am so ready!"
