Not because of the awards or the outstanding academics, but because of the diversity in the chapter and involvement at Butler. "Some people believe that fraternity life limits one's personal and social horizons. My experience was certainly not that. Beta Zeta members were diverse in many ways and I learned much about teamwork, collaboration, and negotiation." Butler is a campus full of tradition. In Ron's opinion, the best traditions were the campus competitions, especially Spring Sing. One year in particular, Jimmy Logan '77 led the Delts and Thetas to victory with a rendition of a Porgy and Bess medley. H e a l s o r e m e m b e r s how the chapter would throw brothers in the White River Canal if they got "pinned"… all in good fun, of course. Some of his fondest memories, though, are just those days spent in the Shelter hanging out with his brothers, having impromptu Bruce Springsteen lip-synching and air guitar sessions; feeding gold fish to a member's lion fish; and playing with Argus McKeever, the chapter's black Labrador Retriever. Ron has utilized the skills he learned in Beta Zeta in a diverse career, which has included practicing p h a r m a c y , d e n t i s t r y , a n d m a n y y e a r s i n t h e dental industry, as well as the American Dental Association Division of Science. At the moment, Ron is Risk Control Director for a large dental professional liability insurance company. His focus is to educate and consult with dentists to help them practice more safely and mitigate the risks that may lead to lawsuits. Despite the geographic difficulties and high demands of his job, Ron has tried to be as supportive of Beta Zeta as possible. The capital campaign to build the Matt White Wing was one such opportunity for him to support the chapter. "I recognized that a lot of work had gone into re-building the membership and the Beta Zeta reputation on campus. I knew this would help Beta Zeta recruit the best Butler students." Ron and his wife, Pamela, make their home in Valparaiso, Indiana. They have one Portuguese Water Dog, Tramp. Ron spends much of his time bicycling, learning martial arts (Hapkido) from his twin brother, Don, and playing various musical instruments. Catch up with Ron at rrzentz@comcast.net. BETA ZETA UNDERGRADUATES Rising senior, Spencer Buys '16, looks over the majestic New Zealand landscape. Spencer spent the spring and summer at the Auckland University of Technology, while also traveling to Australia and South Africa. Andrew Ross '17 and Jordan Cohen '16 in Shanghai, China. Andrew and Jordan, in addition to Mitchell Rasch '17, spent the summer in Shanghai as a part of a Butler University study abroad program. A group of Delts and friends pose with their kayaks. Summer fun was not restricted to those studying abroad! A large group of Delts visited southern Indiana to kayak and explore the wilderness. Jordan Galligan '17 and Bob Rasche '18 pose in the outfield seats at the new Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Both ardent Cardinals fans, Jordan and Bob find it easy to gloat to all of Butler's many Chicago natives. Jack Boudreau '17 and Eric Mannell '17 beam while on one of the Midwest's many lakes. Both college of business students, Jack and Eric love to spend time outdoors. Ben Morrical '17 stands proudly with a Wyoming Jackrabbit. Ben joined Otis in Wyoming for a summer of the outdoor life, far away from our central Indiana home. Otis White '17 steps slowly across a crevice. Otis spent the summer on a ranch in Wyoming, enjoying big sky country.
