F ew things in this life are steadfast and timeless—one such thing is the brotherly love that each of us share as members of Beta Zeta Chapter. I am reminded of the ending of the second stanza of the Delt Creed, "Her strength, the everlasting arms." We all learned it during pledgeship, memorizing the lines until we could recite them in our sleep. However, it wasn't until well past graduation that our Creed, values, and our fundamental principles began to have true meaning in my life. A recent visit back to Indianapolis this June was filled with quite a few Delt memories. Whether it was a home cooked dinner with brothers and their significant others, a cookout reuniting old friends, or even a lonely walk through the halls of the new Shelter…each left me filled with love, humility, and pride. What are some of your fondest Delt memories and experiences that continue bringing you joy and putting smiles on your face? The pages within this newsletter are filled with just that—stories from loyal alumni that continue to feel the positive impact of Beta Zeta. I truly hope you enjoy reading these testaments of how time spent within our Shelter walls shaped the lives of these men. Are you or someone you know ready to help instill our core values and principles within our undergraduate men? Perhaps you are ready take a greater stake in our chapter through volunteering? We are looking for two dedicated volunteers for our advising team and House Corporation. Please contact me at derekburns19@ yahoo.com or Lee Rhea '02 at leroy.rhea@gmail. com for more information. As alumni, we understand the importance of having Truth, Courage, Faith, and Power within our lives to make us better sons, fathers, husbands, neighbors, friends, and brothers. In fact, most of us would agree that we are where we are today because of Delta Tau Delta. Calling all Delts—are you ready for BU Homecoming? Our fifth Annual Alumni Cocktail event will be held at the Shelter during Homecoming, Friday, September 25. It will also serve as our official grand opening of the Matt White Wing! Come check out the renovation and expansion while enjoying a ribbon cutting, tours, donor recognition, scholarships, food and drinks. We are very excited that Matt White's wife, Shartrina, as well at the parents of the late Ed Seaver, are planning to attend this amazing event. The Shelter will also be open on Saturday morning for guests, and will include pastries and coffee, with our annual House Corporation meeting to follow. All of this will conclude well before the football game, allowing you plenty of time to get involved with activities on campus. Mark your calendars; you won't want to miss it! Last but certainly not least, are you on Facebook? Take a moment to check out our alumni page, Beta Zeta Alumni of Delta Tau Delta. We are utilizing this site to communicate news, events, and gatherings with our alumni. Special thanks to several alumni who have been organizing events on a monthly basis. The last event was held at Blind Owl Brewery, where Alex Petersen '14 is the head brewer. Attendees were treated to a private tour and sample tastings. Get connected today to learn more about future outings. As always, it's a great day to be a Delt! Fraternally, Derek M. "M y life is better today because of my experience with Delta Tau Delta, and specifically Beta Zeta," shares Kevin Wanzer '89 about the impact of his decision to join the fraternity when he arrived at Butler University as a freshman in 1985. He credits his time in the Beta Zeta Shelter and the lasting friendships and connections that came from it with helping him create and sustain the life of his dreams. "I had a connection with Delta Tau Delta for years before I even realized it, actually." Kevin recalled that, as a child in elementary school, he received a lapel pin from his Choosing to Love Beta Zeta (Continued on page 2)
