Bring credibility to your business Increase your visibility in the community Become part of leadership creating a productive climate for doing business in Fayetteville Are you Managing Young Professionals? Are you a baby boomer who is managing a young professional? Are you a young professional that has a baby boomer as a boss? We are sure many of you fit into one of these two categories. This isn't a new struggle but many things have changed in the workplace due to technology and the needs for trust and feeling valued. Most young professionals' main concern is how to advance in a multi-generational workplace. Many of them feel that they don't belong or fit in their workplace; they are uncertain about whom to trust and don't respect the manner in which they were being led. Most young professionals are eager to learn the best ways their generation could take control, influence their workplace culture and start performing at the highest levels. They want to get noticed, create impact and at the same time discover how to start generating more income and accelerate their advancement. A recent survey conducted by Forbes magazine outlined five ways that young professionals want to be led: 1. Empower us; don't micromanage our talent 2. Sponsor us; serve as role models 3. Allow us to manage our own brand; don't define us 4. Trust us; don't question our intentions 5. Challenge us; don't marginalize us Also compensation management and allowing young professionals the opportunity to give back to society are also important – in the end they seek respect. They just want you to realize that everyone is important and should be treated equally. The organizations that lead and grow the talent of their young professionals will immediately give themselves a competitive advantage. One way you can help them give back as well as meet other young professionals is to get them involved (even sponsor them) with the Fayetteville Young Professionals. The Fayetteville Young Professionals (FYP) is a membership division of the Fayetteville Regional Chamber, designed to provide opportunities for young professionals to develop the skills they need to succeed in their chosen professions or occupations. The mission of FYP is to create a network of young professionals in the greater Fayetteville area that fosters personal and professional development through relationship building, skill enhancement, community enrichment, and career advancement opportunities; to engage them to take ownership in the future successes of our community. The goals of FYP are to keep young professionals in Fayetteville; to increased interaction with peer group; to enhance career development; to increase career opportunities; and to contribute to the community.
