The proposed amendment affects the Land Use Element and Map of the 2014 Quartzsite General Plan. At the hearing, the Town of Quartzsite Planning and Zoning Com- mission will encourage and provide the fi nal opportunity for public comment before recommending the General Plan Amendment to the Town Council. All comments and feedback regarding the General Plan update are welcomed and must be made in writing. If such a recommendation is made, the Com- mon Council will hold a public hearing and may make their fi nal decision on August 25, 2015, at 7:00 P.M. Both meetings will be held at the Quartzsite Town Hall, 465 N. Art I - Painting Paint your way to enjoyment and relaxation! Students of any skill level will have the ability to use their preferred medium of acrylic or oil paints. Composition, color, and technical handling of paint will be reviewed. Specifi c principles of light, shadow, effects of perspective and perception are explained. Sim- ple, yet effective, demonstrations will include techniques of painting common objects such as vegeta- tion, structures, mountains, rock, and water. Instruction will also be given on where to begin, and how to proceed with executing a painting. Students are responsible for their own supplies (a list is available at AWC Quartzsite). Healthy Communities Workshop Eating and physical activity pat- terns that are focused on consum- ing fewer calories, making informed food choices, and being physically active can help people attain and maintain a healthy weight, reduce their risk of chronic disease, and promote overall health. – Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010 Executive Summary. The guide- lines go hand in hand and together provide important information for developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They are the basis for the Eat Healthy * Be Active Community Workshops. Gemstone Carving Participants will be presented with: a brief history of carving, an over- view of current and historic carv- ing tools and techniques, different types of materials and selection of materials, and implementa- tion of carving, sanding, polish- ing techniques. Participants will learn to use the power tool set to carve gemstone jewelry. Advanced students will learn and develop the skills necessary to create more complex designs. Workshop is geared towards both beginning and advanced level individuals. All required materials and equipment will be provided by the instructor. Metal Jewelry Fabrication The term "fabrication" when it comes to metal jewelry making refers to the art of manipulating metal. That means bending, cut- ting, and shaping it as a way to create jewelry designs. This course, designed for the beginner, covers various metal fabrication tech- niques that do not require solder- ing or any torch work. Fun & Fit- Move through the music with a vari- ety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of move- ment and activities of daily living.
