16 www.DesertMessenger.com August 12, 2015 T��� ����� ������� �� D����� M�������� In Memoriam Bruce McDonald Hull was born on September 18, 1935, at the Ohio Val- ley Hospital in Bellaire, Ohio, to the late Mabel Mariah Johnson Hull and Frederick Burdette Hull, Sr. He lived with his family in Wheeling, West Virginia, until the outbreak of World War II, after which the fam- ily moved to Columbus, Ohio. In the summer of 1945, Bruce moved to Findlay, Ohio, where he attended elementary school, middle school, and high school. Upon his graduation from Findlay Senior High school in May, 1953, Bruce enrolled in the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. After the completion of his fi rst year, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Salzburg, Austria and Stuttgart, Germany, with the 70th Combat Engineer Battalion where he worked as a demolition expert. Bruce was honorably discharged from the Army in September, 1957 and enrolled at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. While study- ing there, he worked for the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in Findlay as a commercial artist and offset pressman in their advertising depart- ment. Upon graduation from college in August, 1962, Bruce began his employment at the F & R Lazarus Company in Columbus, Ohio, where he became a buyer for several ladies wear departments. Bruce moved to California in the early 1970s and began his own wholesale retail clothing business. He retired in Quartzsite, Arizona, after spending 20 years selling clothing in Quartzsite and Yuma. He was preceded in death by his step-mother Madelyn Hull Adams and brothers George Edwin Hull, Garrett Johnson Hull and Colonel Frederick Burdette Hull, Jr. He is survived by his sisters Jacqueline R. Williams, Sally H. Jones and Nadine Phillips and his children, Lori Jean C. Dym, George Frederick "Rick" Hull, Gina Marie Stewart, Bruce McDonald "Randy" Hull, Jr., SaNni Magdelene-Kristin Lemonidis, and Frederick Burdette Hull, II. Bruce is also survived by sixteen grandchil- dren, six great-great grandchildren and his ex-wife Sandra Jeanne Hull and ex-wife Mette Christensen. Bruce had a passion for the arts, history, cultures, and languages and was a huge American Civil War buff. In his lifetime, he compiled a library of over 350 books on the subject. He was an avid trivia collector and had an amazing recollection of foreign languages books. A memorial service celebrating Bruce's life was held on August 8th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Em- bassy Suites in Springfi eld, Virginia (8100 Loisdale Rd, Springfi eld, VA 22150). An additional memorial service will be held in Quartzsite, AZ in the fall of 2015. Bruce McDonald Hull, Sr. Expect delays on I-10 east of Quartzsite next week for Overnight paving. The Arizona Department of Transportation is currently working on a project to remove and replace the pavement in La Paz County (mile- posts 41-52). Overnight paving is scheduled to begin Thursday, August 13. Crews are scheduled to work Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. One lane restrictions will be in place in both directions dur- ing work hours. The speed limit will be reduced through the work zone. Drivers should prepare for possible delays of up to 15 minutes. Law en- forcement will be on-site to monitor traffi c. The project is anticipated to be completed in late 2015. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. The Quartzsite Calendar dot com website will feature everything hap- pening in and around Quartzsite; from Community Events, Entertain- ment, Music, Meetings, Classes, Swap Meets & Showgrounds, Non- Profi ts, Clubs, Seminars, Civic Board Meetings, etc. Www.QuartzsiteCalendar.com allows anyone to suggest an event to be posted on the "Submit Event" but- ton at the top of the calendar. Users can fi ll in the details about the event which will pop-up when clicked on by a viewer. Users can also attach a link to their event website. Visitors to the online calendar can subscribe to events, email them to friends, or share them on social media. Visitors can also print the calendar. Users can also subscribe free for iCal feeds of the calendar's events into Apple iCal, Outlook & Google.
