More details on page 3. G reetings from 2500 Pearl! The house is still standing and in great shape, as are the actives. If you haven't heard, the spring 2015 grades came out. Texas Alpha ranked second overall among all of the fraternities with a chapter GPA of 3.3387. Keep in mind that's an average for 180 men. The fraternity in first place has only 30 members. The average GPA for all undergraduates is 3.212 and the all-Greek GPA is 3.28. I have to say that this is quite an accomplishment, especially given the level of social and community activities that the chapter participates in. Wish we had these numbers when I was there! Recruitment has wrapped up and shows all the signs of a typical great new class of men, 55 members strong, coming to Texas Alpha. We also attended the National Conclave in Nashville in August, taking with us 13 actives and at least five alumni. The active chapter has worked closely with Grand Chapter over the last year to increase its involvement in how the national fraternity operates with regard to larger chapters. In the process, the executive committee has re-drafted and refined its new member development program to increase the opportunities for all members to benefit from the chapter throughout their four years (hopefully!) in Texas Alpha. As we move into the next school year, the local alumni and I are refocusing on helping our juniors and seniors take their next steps into the workplace or graduate school. We can use help in this endeavor. If any of you are interested, don't hesitate to contact me at hamiltonbutler@gmail.com. Finally, it's football season! We'll have tailgates before most of the games.
