L ast semester, Alpha Chi Omega was busy with various philanthropy, community service, sisterhood, and social events. With additional assistance from AXΩ Headquarters through the chapter advancement program, we have been working hard to continue our success and make improvements to give our members the best collegiate experience possible. ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AIDS CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD Our chapter GPA in fall 2014 was 3.33, and our new member class ranked third out of 12 sororities. We won Panhellenic Chapter of the Year at KU's Greek Awards Night. KU's community standards process evaluates chapters on six categories: academic performance, membership development and education, risk management and legal liability, leadership and campus engagement, community awareness, and chapter management. MR. ALPHA CHI RAISES $4,400 FOR WILLOW DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CENTER Our main philanthropy event this spring was our male pageant, Mr. Alpha Chi, on March 11. Nine KU fraternity men participated to help raise funds for the Willow Domestic Violence Center and promote awareness of domestic violence. The event raised more than $4,400 for Willow. OFFICERS ATTEND LEADERSHIP TRAINING Our chapter officers had many leadership training opportunities this semester. Rachel Bender '13, Morgan Cormack '12, and I attended AXΩ's Leadership Academy in Indianapolis in January. The conference provided leadership training and helpful information for leading a successful chapter. Brittney Hinote '13, vice president of recruitment, attended recruitment training in Los Angeles in March. This training will allow our officers to lead Phi Chapter through a successful semester this fall. MOM'S DAY AND ALUMNAE EVENTS Mom's weekend was March 27-28. On Friday night, we had a barbecue at the chapter house with a representative from Stella and Dot selling jewelry and accessories. On Saturday, we had brunch and a silent auction at the Eldridge Hotel. Moms and collegians put together gift baskets for this silent auction and proceeds were collected by the Parents Club to support Phi Chapter. Chapter members also attended the Mu Mu alumnae chapter at its Legacy Tea event in Kansas City on March 12. Collegians met alumnae and their daughters at the event and discussed Alpha Chi Omega and the University of Kansas Panhellenic community overall. We are so appreciative of the support we receive from both our parents and our alumnae members, and we enjoy having the opportunity to involve them in our events. Please check out our newly designed website, www.kuaxo.com for all things Phi chapter! Thank you to our alumnae for your support and, as always, we invite you to drop by the house to visit us and see what's going on in our chapter.
