ByMarilynAdams Galatians5:17Ampli- fied says, "For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the (Holy) Spirit, and the (desires of the) Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other (continually withstanding and in con- flict with each other), so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire." Notice the words: op- posed, antagonistic, with- standing, conflict, not free, and prevented. Our flesh actively opposes God. We need to call it as it is. Sin. Our flesh re- sists His word and His ways, as well as His bless- ings. You cannot lead one who is resisting you. Ga- latians 5:16 says, "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Romans 7:23 says, "But I see another law in my members, war- ring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members." Our uncon- scious mind is a mem- ber. Romans 6:13 says, "And do not present your members as instru- ments of unrighteous- ness to sin, but present yourselves to God as be- ing alive from the dead, and your members as in- struments of righteous- ness to God." What do you have hid- den in your unconscious that has undermined your health? Buried emo- tional traumas, unfor- giveness, churning ven- geance, and bitter roots all continue to take a toll on our health. Our minds and bodies are intricately woven together. Do you have a health issue? Ask the Holy Spirit if it is rooted in some- thing you have buried in your unconscious. Noth- ing is hidden from the Lord. That is a wonder- ful truth. He is more than willing to reveal it so you can be set free. It doesn't matter what or when, it is all known to Him. Mark 4:22 says, "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." Never underestimate the power of God. Ephe- sians 1:19 Amplified says, "And (so that you can know and understand) what is the immeasur- able and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demon- strated in the working of His mighty strength." No- tice the words: immea- surable, unlimited, and surpassing. Our God is the Chain Breaker. Peter was bound by chains to two guards. Acts 12:7 says, "...his chains fell off his hands..." Acts 16:26 says, "Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed." We do not have to try to remember what we buried in our uncon- scious. He knows. When our hearts are ready to receive His revealing, He will expose what we hid. We do need to acknowl- edge that we opposed Him. We need to also recog- nize that our sin blocked the blessings He desired for us. He does not bless one who dwells in dis- obedience. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 says, "Now it shall come to pass, if you dil- igently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to ob- serve carefully all His commandments which I command you today...all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God." Disobedience brings a curse. Verse 15 says, "But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I com- mand you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you." Though Moses is speak- ing to the children of Is- rael, we can apply it to our lives. Are you being overrun with His blessing, or are you bound in the curses of disobedience? Buried things in our un- conscious block God's in- tended blessings. He will reveal your hidden pain when you ask Him. He will break your chains and set you free. When you confess the hidden as sin and release the emo- tional pain to Him, He will reverse the curse. If you have never ac- cepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, don't oppose His offer any longer. I urge you to call out to Him today. Romans 10:13 says, "For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." MarilynAdamsaccepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1958. A debilitating accident in 1977 radically changed her life. Through that crucible of affliction, the Lord wooed her into intimacy, teaching her timeless truths that sustain her, and permeate her teachings. Her blog can be found at www.msmorningmanna. worpress.com. GOD TALK Opposing forces in your life The rock band The Ex- change is scheduled to play a concert at 7 p.m. Wednes- day, July 22 at First Chris- tian Church, 926 Madison St. in Red Bluff. Admission is free. This young rock band features Britt Espinosa as lead vocal, Jack Espinosa on drums and Tyler Mays on bass. They have been touring together for more than four years. The band has already re- leased the song "Spin," the first track off its full-length release coming in October. "Spin" is available on Spo- tify. A music video of the new radio single "Heart- beat" came out at the end of May. More information about the band is available at the- exchangerock.com. NEIGHBORHOOD FULL GOSPEL Vacation Bible School starts July 27 The Associated Press PHILADELPHIA There aren't enough beds for the more than 1 million visi- tors expected to flood Phil- adelphia when Pope Fran- cis visits in September, particularly for those try- ing to be frugal. So Belinda Lewis Held had to be cre- ative when it came to shel- tering the more than 1,000 young people she's guiding that weekend: They'll be bunking down in museums, classrooms and churches. "They're young and they don't mind the floors. They'll bring sleeping bags or yoga mats and pillows," said Lewis Held, director of group travel for APilgrim- sJourney.com, a Pittsburgh company that organizes worldwide Catholic tours. "They're willing to rough it for Pope Francis." With the papal visit imminent and the city's 11,500 hotel rooms filling up quickly, wannabe visi- tors are thinking outside the box(spring) when it comes to lodgings, partic- ularly when they want to keep costs down. Philadelphia officials may permit camping in some public parks, and untra- ditional offerings have ap- peared online. On Airbnb, a Delaware River houseboat was booked but a converted dance studio was still avail- able late this week. Craig- slist had a listing for an empty warehouse and mul- tiple couch surfing options. Lewis Held's company, which caters to large groups of any age, found more tra- ditional hotels for older pil- grims but knew from expe- rience that she could look elsewhere for younger vis- itors.
