COURTESY PHOTO The Corning 9-10 fast pitch All Star Girls won the District 1 championship and went unde- feated in the District 1 All Stars Tournament. En route to a 5-0 record for the tournament, held in Corning, the team beat Central Shasta twice, East Shasta and Red Bluff twice, one being in the champi- onship game 3-2 for a shot at the section title. In the sectional tournament, in Natomas, the team edged out Rio Linda 2-1 and blew out Sacramento 12-2 to get one win away from the section champi- onship game. A loss to a good Marysville team 12-0 meant the team faced Rio Linda again for a sec- ond chance at a spot in the final. The team fell just short with an 8-5 loss in which the girls played hard.
