The suspect, later identi- fied as Heath Allan Patterson, was someone the victim had worked with several years before, but had not been involved with in a dat- ing relationship, Sgt. Scott Cur- tis said. Patterson allegedly entered the woman's house through an unlocked door and sexually as- saulted her in her bedroom. The victim said that the sus- pects — Zechariah Cozine, 27, and Chase Shaver, 19 — lied to gain access to the woman's home and belongings. According to the woman's re- port to the police, they pushed her in the house and stole her wallet. Within 10 minutes of the inci- dent Cozine was found by police and contained. Shaver was located around 3:45 p.m. and refused to coop- erate with Tehama County sher- iff's deputies. He was then taken into custody with the help of a K-9 unit. The men were believed to have a firearm in their possession at the time of the alleged robbery. It was lo- cated nearby. Both men were booked into Te- hama County Jail on suspicion of robbery and elder abuse. C o z i n e ' s bail was set at $300,000 and Shaver's bail was set at $303,000 with the added charge of resist- ing arrest. All property stolen in the al- leged robbery was safely recov- ered. CRIME HomeinvasioninGerberreported By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter CORNING Nearly two years af- ter a mess was brought to the county's attention, a large- scale abatement operation is underway in the 19000 block of No Name Road, off of Gyle Road. Starting Monday, a Bay Area construction company started hauling off the first loads of rubbish and cleanup is ex- pected to continue through July 15, said Tehama County Environmental Health Direc- tor Tim Potanovic. "This has been an ongo- ing problem," Potanovic said. "We've known about it since summer 2013 when some of the debris was ignited by either a lightning strike or a short in a solar panel. It has caused quite a bit of concern. The volume of disposed carpet is substan- tial enough to catch the state's attention with regards to the removal and we appreciate it. We could never undertake this much of a cleanup on our own." The cleanup is being paid for through the CalRecycle program. The majority of the debris is baled carpet that could have been recycled at one time, how- ever, that is no longer an op- tion due to exposure to the el- ements over the past 10 years, Potanovic said. Other items found on the property included several abandoned recreational vehi- cles, scrap metal such as bail- ing wire and rolled barbed wire and solvents such as paint thinner. While Tehama County en- forcement code does allow the removal of nuisances through abatement following a process that starts with enforcement officers posting notices of a vi- olation, the ultimate goal is to seek voluntary cleanup of the problem, abating only when that is not possible. There is a period of at least 14 days between notice of abatement and the time it first goes to the planning commis- sion. It then proceeds to the Te- hama County Board of Super- visors, if the Planning Com- mission adopts a resolution finding a nuisance on the prop- LARGE-SCALE ABATEMENT COUNTY NO NAME ROAD NUISANCE CLEANED UP PHOTOSBYCHIPTHOMPSON—DAILYNEWS Bales of used carpet are piled high on a 20-acre property between Red Bluff and Rancho Tehama on No Name Road, off of Gyle Road.
