New buses, new light transit vehicles, a new route, and evening service are suggestions from the TDP that have already been implemented. Speaking of improvements, route 9 was extended Monday, Jan. 23. Route 9 already serviced University Estates, Rosehill Road, the College Lakes Library, Stacy Weaver Drive, Methodist University, Walmart, Gables Drive, and Trinity Community Services. The extension provides service from Methodist University to the shopping center on Andrews Road and the Cape Fear Valley Health Pavilion North. For more information about FAST, log onto http://ridefast.net. Fort Bragg Road Repaving to Occur Soon The repaving of a portion of Fort Bragg Road is set to occur soon. Pre-bidding for the project began Tuesday, Jan. 17 and bids will be opened Thursday, Feb. 9. Work is set to begin in late March. The section of Fort Bragg Road that will be repaved is from Bragg Boulevard to Churchill Drive. According to City Engineering & Infrastructure Director Rusty Thompson, no road closures will take place before 8:30 a.m. or after 4 p.m., to avoid congestion. One lane will be closed at a time and there are no intentions of shutting the road down completely, Thompson said. Stormwater continued Many BMPs are expensive and it may take awhile to recoup costs through the stormwater fee credit, so owners should consider that before building. Prices to build or install BMPs vary depending upon the BMP and contractor. In order to receive the fee credit, owners must apply for the incentive by April 15 and have a completed, functioning stormwater facility. The facility will be inspected by the City to ensure it meets regulations. professional engineer licensed in N.C. To ensure that an engineer is licensed, owners can log onto www.ncbels.org and go to "License Lookup." Upon approval of the stormwater facility and billing of the stormwater fee in August. The fee credit is available annually as long as the BMP is properly maintained and continues to meet City criteria. To apply for the incentive, stop by the Engineering & Hall, located at 433 Hay Street, or go to www.cityoffayetteville.org/stormwater, scroll down to the end of the page and look for "More Information," click "Stormwater Fee Credit Manual" and then click "download."
