Tax Listing Period Ends Jan. 31 T he tax listing period for Cumberland County ends Jan. 31. This means taxpayers who own or control business property, agribusiness farm equipment and/or personal property must list that property with Cumberland County Tax Administration. Examples of property that must be listed are all permanently tagged (multi-year licensed) and all unlicensed motor vehicles, trailers, motorcylces, campers, RVs and truck bodies; all aircraft; all boats and boat motors; jet skis; mobile homes; hot air balloons; and all household rental personal property. Taxpayers will be billed based on the information submitted to the tax U.S. Postal Service no later than Jan. 31 to avoid a 10 percent late listing penalty. CUMBERLAND C Volunteers Help Animal Control Wash, Walk and Find Homes For Animals umberland County Animal Control depends on a roster of animal- permanent, loving homes for hundreds of dogs and cats. Volunteer Coordinator Angela Chalker said volunteers provide a much-needed and cost-effective way to care for the many of dogs and cats that spend time in the Cumberland County Animal Shelter. "The whole volunteer program is to make dogs and cats more adoptable and it makes their lives better while they are here," Chalker said. Chalker said she has dedicated volunteers, but could always use more. Volunteers must attend an orientation at the animal shelter. The next orientations are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Volunteers are needed to wash and walk animals and clean up cages and holding areas. Cassandra Thomas of Fayetteville said she volunteers as a way to give back. "Humans are the cause of a lot of this and I'm giving back to the animal world," Thomas said.
