ByMarilynAdams Psalm119:73says, "Your hands have made me and fash- ioned me; give me understanding, that I may learn Your com- mandments." God fashioned each one of us in our mother's womb. Psalm 139:13 says, "For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb." Verse 16 says, "Your eyes saw my substance, being yet un- formed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them." You were fashioned by His hands. It speaks of personal involvement, and specific imprinting of your unique characteristics. Your imprinted character- istics are God's gift of love to others. He wants us to celebrate our uniqueness. He doesn't want us to copy others, but influence them through our uniqueness. Self-hatred and self-re- jection are sins against God. Your lack of self-ac- ceptance rejects His lov- ingly fashioned design. It blocks you from truly re- ceiving His love for your- self, which can also cause cellular damage, creating disease. Consequences of our sin don't just go away. Weedy thoughts create weeds. Galatians 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for what- ever a man sows, that he will also reap." It is the law of the harvest. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to for- give us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrigh- teousness." One aspect of righteous- ness is align- ing our will with His. Therefore any thought against your- self is un- righteous- ness. Ro- mans 1:18 says that we suppress the truth through unrighteousness. Not only do we need to ask the Lord's forgiveness for our self-hatred and self-re- jection, but we need to for- give ourselves for rejecting our design. The only thing that binds us to our past is our mind. A slave is bound and has no personal free- dom. The old patterns of thought that we cling to make His word inef- fective in our lives. How- ever when we embrace His word and cling to it, the old will be broken. Medi- tating on His word chokes weed thoughts. It makes truth the weed-whacker. Any negative thought that passes through our mind is just passing un- less we receive it and dia- logue with it. 1 Corinthi- ans 2:11 Amplified says, "For what person perceives (knows and understands) what passes through a man's thoughts except the man's own spirit within him? Just so no one dis- cerns (comes to know and comprehend) the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." The Lord has given us a marvelous gift that will immediately stop the neg- ative passing thought. This is what He means in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that we are to bring every thought captive. I want to use fear as our example. When fear passes through our mind, if we will immediately praise the Lord for Who He is the fear will stop. Praise is the transition from a fearful thought to truth. Truth that will help us stand, and truth that will set us free. If sinful actions rule your life, they are a strong- hold. Those strongholds are binding you to things from which you cannot free yourself. It can only be broken through Jesus' power. If you have never ac- cepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, I would encourage you to do so today. You can- not free yourself. There is only one way, and it is through Jesus Christ who is the Truth. He died to set you free from the en- slavement of your sins. Ro- mans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eter- nal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." You receive that gift when you acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you person- ally. When you believe that for yourself, He saves you from the wages of sin. There are two choices. Ei- ther you receive His gift of eternal life or reject it. MarilynAdamsaccepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1958. A debilitating accident in 1977 radically changed her life. Through that crucible of affliction, the Lord wooed her into intimacy, teaching her timeless truths that sustain her, and permeate her teachings. GOD TALK Celebrate your uniqueness MarilynAdams By Nicole Winfield The Associated Press VATICAN CITY The Vati- can signed a treaty with the "State of Palestine" on Fri- day, saying it hoped its le- gal recognition of the state would help stimulate peace with Israel and that the treaty itself would serve as a model for other Mideast countries. Vatican Foreign Minister Paul Gallagher and his Pal- estinian counterpart, Riad al-Malki, signed the treaty at a ceremony inside the Vatican. Israel expressed disap- pointment when the Vati- can announced last month that it had reached final agreement with the "State of Palestine" on the treaty regulating the life of the Catholic Church in the Pal- estinian territories. It repeated that regret in a Foreign Ministry state- ment Friday, saying the move hurt peace prospects and would discourage the Palestinians from return- ing to direct negotiations. It warned that it would study the agreement "and its im- plications for future coop- eration between Israel and the Vatican." Gallagher, though, said he hoped the Vatican's rec- ognition "may in some way be a stimulus to bringing a definitive end to the long- standing Israeli-Palestin- ian conflict, which contin- ues to cause suffering for both parties." He said that he hoped the treaty could serve as a model for the church in other Mideast countries, where Christians are a mi- nority and often perse- cuted. The Vatican had wel- comed the decision by the U.N. General Assembly in 2012 to recognize a Pal- estinian state and had re- ferred to the Palestine state since. But the treaty marked its first legal recognition of the Palestinian territory as a state. Al-Malki called the treaty an "historic agreement" and said it marked "a rec- ognition of the right of the Palestinian people to self- determination, freedom and dignity in an indepen- dent state of their own, free from the shackles of occu- pation." The United States and Israel oppose recognizing the Palestinian state, ar- guing that it undermines U.S.-led efforts to negoti- ate an Israeli-Palestinian deal on the terms of Pal- estinian statehood. Most countries in Western Eu- rope have held off on rec- ognition, but some have hinted that their position could change if peace ef- forts remain deadlocked. Israeli Foreign Minis- try spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon called the treaty itself one-sided, saying the text ignored "the historic rights of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel and to the places holy to Judaism in Jerusalem."
