Friday, January 20, 2012 – Daily News 5A Education in Tehama County KEEP ON LEARNING RB students named to Honor Roll A total of 4,914 students were named to the 2011 fall honor rolls at Oklahoma State University in Still- water, including two Red Bluff residents, Emily Andreini and Heather Anne Welsch. Full-time undergraduate students who completed 12 or more hours with a grade point average of 4.00 were placed on the President's Honor Roll, and students with a grade point average of 3.50 or higher with no grade below a "C" were placed on the Dean's Honor Roll. Of those named to the honor roll, 1,718 students who received all "A" grades were named to the Presi- dent's Honor Roll, including Andreini. Andreini is a 2009 graduate of Red Bluff Union High School. Welsch is a 2006 graduate of Santa Clara High School. Two students in the Vista Band auditioned and were accepted to the California Association for Music Edu- cation — Northern California Junior High Honor Band. Seventh grader Victoria Yates and eighth grader Mirella Valera traveled to Chico State on Friday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 14, rehearsed for two days and put on a concert with 70 other students from around Northern California. The band played five pieces of music that were very difficult. Both students from Vista play the clarinet. Hurton named to Dean's List Special to the DN Mary Hurton, daughter of Pat and D'Lorah Hurton of Red Bluff, was named to the Cedarville University Dean's List for the 2011 fall semester. Mary is a freshman majoring in Public Administration. Mary was Salutatorian for American Christian Academy class of 2011, being home- schooled all of her life. When on break, she is employed by the City of Red Bluff Department of Parks and Recreation and has freelanced for the Red Bluff Daily News. Cedarville is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist uni- versity of arts, sciences, pro- fessional and graduate pro- grams. Located in Cedarville, Ohio, the University offers more than 100 ares of study to approxi- mately 3,200 students. To be named to the Cedarville University Dean's List, a student must earn a 3.5 GPA for the semester and be carrying at least 12 semester hours. There may even be snacks at each rally. The only things you will need for this is a comfortable pair of athletic shoes, comfortable cloth- ing, and a can-do attitude. The best part of this is that it can be done anywhere at any pace on any schedule. Barnwell makes Dean's List Reba Barnwell of Red Bluff has been named to the Dean's List in the College of Business and Eco- nomics (COBE) at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho for oustanding academic achievement in Fall 2011. Barnwell is among a select few COBE stu- dents who earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher during fall semester. Barnwell, the daughter of Henry and Debi Barn- well, is a 2010 graduate of Red Bluff Union High School.
