ByDiamondLeung BayAreaNewsGroup The Warriors, a complete and consistent team experienc- ing a dream season, crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday with a methodical 105-97 win in Game 6 of the NBA Finals and found them- selves at the pinnacle celebrat- ing a new title. These Warriors can now be called NBA champions. Golden State captured its first championship trophy since 1975, using the formula it had relied upon all season long. With the leadership and historic shooting of Stephen Curry and contributions from up and down their roster, the Warriors dazzled teams with the highest-scoring offense. With smarts and toughness, they banded together to form a swarming, top-ranked defense. LeBron James, despite av- eraging 35.8 points per game in the series for the injury- plagued Cavaliers after a 32-point night at Quicken Loans Arena, was no match for such a team as Cleveland's 51- year major professional sports championship drought contin- ues. Curry, who toiled for years and turned around a losing culture, led the Warriors with 25 points. Andre Iguodala, whose insertion in the start- ing lineup turned around the series, had . Draymond Green, whose indomitable spirit pro- pelled the team, notched a tri- ple-double with 16 points, 11 re- bounds and 10 assists. Wambach came off the bench for the United States in the team's last match against Sweden. Tuesday, she started up top with Alex Morgan, who was making her first World Cup start in Canada after working her way back from a bone bruise in her left knee. So what's next after Burns saved two runs with a tremen- dous leaping catch at the fence, drove in two runs with a triple, then walked, stole second and scored the winning run in the ninth inning to help the A's engi- neer a 6-5 win over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday? Nothing. Burns absolved Kazmir from further depletion of his checking account after his catch, which de- nied San Diego's Justin Upton a two-run homer in the first inning. "I was joking before the game with Sam Fuld that if there was a ball in the gap, I was going to go for it, just as a joke, because Kaz was on the mound," Burns said. "I ran in and told Kaz he didn't have to buy me anything. And he gave me a high five. "It was a nice gesture the last time." Perhaps the nicest gesture took place after Kazmir was out of the game. With the teams locked in a 5-5 tie, Burns worked Padres' closer Craig Kimbrel for a walk, stole second and then scored the winning run on Eric Sogard's single up the middle. It gave the 28-39 A's a three-game winning streak.
