TheCaliforniaHeatCho- rus of Sweet Adeline Inter- national had a very reward- ing weekend in Reno re- cently. The Region 12 Conven- tion/Competition was held in May at the Grand Sierra Resort, hosting more than a thousand women from Northern California, Oregon, Ne- vada and Hawaii. The chorus' quartet, Fourmation, was number 17 of 34 quartets on Friday, and did the chorus very proud. California Heat was num- ber 9 of 18 choruses heard on Saturday afternoon and left Reno with third place medals for the small chorus division. Members were so happy to place in the top three. The members would like to thank all of their friends, families and community who stand behind them throughout the year. The Tehema County Mu- seum in Tehama is present- ing Summer Fest featuring The California Heat Cho- rus July 18th in the Mu- seum Annex. Tickets will be available in advance and at the door. Come early, visit the mu- seum then stay for the con- cert and refreshments. For further information, call 527-4846 or 895-0139. SingerstakethirdplaceinReno COURTESYPHOTO California Heat Chorus. CALIFORNIAHEAT CHICO Frugal House re- turns to Chico June 19- 20 as a fundraiser for the North State Symphony. Now in its seventh year, Frugal House offers de- signers a challenge: to cre- ate a memorably unique room in the Frugal House, without spending much money. The Frugal House de- signers use donated furni- ture and décor items, and receive a small budget for thrift shop and discount purchases. Many items are repurposed, repainted and rejuvenated in vari- ous ways by the creative talents of the room de- signers. Everything is for sale, with proceeds ben- efitting the North State Symphony. Created in 2001 from the merger of the Chico and Redding Sympho- nies, the North State Sym- phony functions as a pro- gram within the College of Humanities and Fine Arts at California State Univer- sity, Chico. The event begins with a Friday night party at 6 p.m. on June 19. Party at- tendees can shop while en- joying live music and re- freshments. The Frugal House remains open on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on an open house basis. All items pur- chased can be picked up on Sunday, June 21. The Frugal House is at 6 Vermillion Circle in Chico, off Forest Avenue, near Bidwell Park. Park- ing in the neighborhood is limited, so Friday at- tendees are encouraged to leave their cars at Marsh Junior High School and catch a free shuttle that will run throughout the evening. Tickets to the Friday opening night party are $40. Refreshments from some of Chico's most popular food ven- dors are included, and there will be a no-host bar and entertainment by the Greg and Bar- bara D'Augelli Quar- tet. Friday night tickets also allow readmission on Saturday. Saturday- only tickets cost $15. Tickets are available at the North State Sym- phony office, call ahead at 898-5984, Zucchini & Vine, Chico Chamber of Commerce, Eagle Security and Hodge's Nursery and Gifts. Tickets can be pur- chased online at http:// www.brownpapertickets. com/event/1691480 for the June 19 opening night or http://www.brownpaper- tickets.com/event/1691495 for the June 20 open house. Taking into account the snorer's spouse and children, as many as 160 million people are negatively affected by snoring. Snoring not only interrupts your sleep cycle, it can also be a symptom of a condition called sleep apnea. Fortunately, there are cost-effective oral appliances for snoring and sleep apnea that dentists can prescribe to their patients. Traditional mandibular advancement appliances, such as Silent Night Slide-Link, TAP, EMA, help reduce or eliminate snoring by moving the lower jaw forward, opening the airway to allow air to flow more freely.
