The 4th Friday event will feature writers from the Sandhills region who want to showcase their books. Last year's event brought 40 authors with books representing genres from children's, fiction, history, inspirational and biographies. Nominations Sought For Ag Hall of Fame Cumberland County Cooperative Extension is accepting nominations for the 2015 Agricultural Hall of Fame. Nominations can be submitted through June 30. Membership in the Hall of Fame has been awarded to one or more persons annually since 1989 and was established to honor county residents who have made significant contributions to agriculture, home economics, youth development or rural communities. The Hall of Fame is in the I.B. Julian Auditorium of the Cumberland County Agriculture Center, 301 E. Mountain Dr. Nominations should be submitted on a nomination form, which is available by calling 910-321-6405 or on the Cooperative Extension website at cumberland.ces.ncsu.edu. Completed nomination forms with supporting documentation, not to exceed five pages, must be received by June 30 at 5 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered. Mail nominations to Cumberland County Cooperative Extension, Charlie Rose Agri-Expo Center, 301 East Mountain Dr., Fayetteville, N.C. 28306. Nominations may also be faxed to 910- 321-6883 or emailed to Lisa Childers, County Extension Director, at lisa_childers@ncsu.edu. The nominating committee will review all nomination forms and select a nominee or nominees to be submitted to the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners for consideration and election into the Hall of Fame. Local Authors' Showcase June 26 The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing about the Proposed South Central Land Use Plan June 15 at 6:45 p.m. at their regular meeting in Room 118 of the Courthouse, 117 Dick St. Persons desiring to speak at the public hearing must register with the Clerk to the Board prior to commencement of the meeting or by calling 910-678-7771. The purpose of the public hearing is to give residents an opportunity to present their comments and concerns about the plan. The Cumberland County Planning and Inspections Department staff encourages all interested parties to attend the hearing. The Proposed South Central Land Use Plan is generally defined as south of the Crown Coliseum Complex and City of Fayetteville line; west of the Cape Fear River, east of Eastern Boulevard and north of the Bladen and Robeson County lines.
