T he Alumni Association is proud to announce that it has now officially launched the H.G. Menke Mentoring Program to connect undergraduate members with Chi Zeta alumni. e goal of the program is to provide important guidance and counseling for our student members, including career, networking, and social growth objectives. Alumni have a wealth of knowledge and experience that the mentoring program seeks to make more accessible to those who can benefit from it the most. Named for Harry "H.G." Menke X1 and our first High Alpha, the program operates through a powerful online platform developed by Denver-based Civicore. Brothers, both alumni and active can easily enter profile information, which includes education, professional career, hobbies, and community involvement, and then find others with similar areas of interest. is specialized tool makes it simple to volunteer and take advantage of the program, and detailed guidance will be available to you online at our website. Seth Ellis '05 X1700, Alumni Association board member and chairman of the chapter mentoring committee said, "Chi Zeta alumni are a wonderful resource to undergraduate brothers. For example, if a graduating senior is looking to move to the Indianapolis area, he can look up a mentor to inquire about job opportunities or possible neighborhoods in which to live." Alumni may also utilize the program to locate interns or graduates to fill open employment positions. We owe special thanks to Seth and his committee for their great efforts in setting up this groundbreaking new program to support our lifetime brotherhood. Now it's time for all of us to make this a great success. Take a minute to visit the website and learn more about the Menke program and how you can volunteer to help our active brothers, or to get the contacts you need for your business. For a minimal time commitment, you can make a difference and provide guidance to our Chi Zeta student members. To get involved, contact Seth at sethellis83@gmail.com, or simply visit our website, www.illinilambdachi.com, and look for the Menke Mentor tab. It's that easy, and rewarding! Chi Zetagram 6 W e are pleased to report that with the support of your Alumni Association, the undergraduate chapter has successfully completed the first period of the sanctions imposed by the Board of Fraternity Affairs in full compliance with all of the guidelines and restrictions. Among these important accomplishments are: • e most restrictive sanction, banning sponsored events with alcohol by the chapter, has now expired with full compliance. • e monthly meetings with the Assistant Dean of Students for Fraternity and Sorority Affairs were accomplished and are no longer required. e Chapter Executive Committee found this opportunity for dialogue to be helpful, and we benefitted from and appreciated the university's input as well. • All of the self-sanctioned activities have been successfully completed. ese included drug education programs, unannounced safety inspections, Illinois Leadership Center program participation, and a confidential hotline. All of these programs will continue next year. We are particularly pleased by the full participation of the chapter officers in the Leadership Center program, which is a great learning tool for our undergraduate leaders. • e H.G. Menke Mentorship Program has been launched. With near full participation by the undergraduates, we have an opportunity to support our brothers and our lifetime brotherhood, so we urge each of you to please volunteer your support as a mentor now (visit our website, www.illinilambdachi.com, for more information). • e search for a live-in house advisor is proceeding with both public and private avenues being used to locate the best candidate. is spring, members of the Alumni Association donated their time and funds to remodel a first-floor room into a suitable living suite, which was completed ahead of schedule and is ready for occupancy next fall. • e Alumni Association will conduct an important leadership retreat with chapter officers this summer. • A new Alumni Advisory Committee is being implemented this summer to provide assigned alumni advisors to each major chapter officer. ese advisors will meet and work with the chapter officers to provide guidance and be a direct resource and mentor. e leadership and members of the undergraduate chapter have responded to and respected the importance of these curative sanctions. ere will be more required of them, and from all of us, to maintain and build on this progress. We are, however, confident that the culture which allowed the problem in the past has been eliminated, and with the active support of alumni members and the Lambda Chi Alpha organization, we will continue the growth now underway as we look to build for the future of Chi Zeta.
