We accomplished several goals (and had some fun doing so), including the inaugural SigEp Super Saturday, the first SigEp Spring Clean-Up, another great Greek Week, and an intramural championship! Two Successful Philanthropy Events My first semester as president could not have been more entertaining. Over the past few months, I have seen an energetic group of young men translate several great ideas into action, including the execution of our inaugural SigEp Super Saturday event. The executive board set a goal this semester to host a campus-wide philanthropy event, our first since the closure of SigEp Scare-A-Thon, held on Halloween of 2013. SigEp Super Saturday featured a dodgeball tournament among several sororities, a popular Twitter contest, and some hilarious serenades from our dodgeball participants. We raised over $5,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation of America. Thank you to everyone who donated to this event, as it could not have been done without your support! A special thank-you goes to Jeff Rutkowski '16, who served as our dedicated philanthropy chairman. During the hectic planning and chaos of the philanthropy, our vice president of communications, Eric Hulting '17, spearheaded a new event, SigEp Spring Clean-Up, which helped improve the condition of our parks here in Columbia. On Saturday, April 4, our members got up early and went to three different locations, picking up trash and other litter that was hindering the potential beauty of our community. Chapter GPA Improved The chapter also set out to accomplish a few other goals this semester, including beating MISSOURI ALPHA HOSTS TWO PHILANTHROPY EVENTS, WINS INTRAMURAL CHAMPIONSHIP Mo Alpha stands up in support of #ItsOnUs, a White House campaign to combat sexual assault, especially at colleges. the all-University GPA, which would give us the honor of hanging an academic achievement banner above our door. We will not know if we accomplished this goal until the summer, but rest assured our members have worked diligently toward improving our chapter GPA. We also had an impressive year athletically, being crowned champions of Division 1 intramural sports. This included first place finishes in basketball and volleyball, a third place finish in flag football, and fourth place in soccer. Not too bad when competing against 32 other fraternities. Greek Week wasn't too shabby either for our first semester paired with the wonderful ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta. Unfortunately, we did not place, but we did have a blast! As another semester comes to a close here at Mizzou, it is important that I recognize our dedicated alumni who make our chapter operations possible. Without them, Missouri Our intramural basketball team won another Division 1 title on April 29.
