Anchored in Tradition: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future Our Future Needs O ur home has begun to show its age and is no longer competitive with many other new chapter houses or expansions in Greek town. Increasing demands for updates to a structure that no longer meets the needs of our members or is compliant with safety and code requirements make it clear that we must make a major investment in our home. Through careful study, assessment and planning, Mu house corporation has determined that the most logical and necessary strategy is to build a new chapter house at 900 South Providence that maintains the historical and architectural characteristics of the existing house. At this time, the construction cost of a new build is estimated to be $8.2 million. We will be able to house all live-in members under one roof while retaining the distinctive exterior appearance that has served as the gateway to Greek town, as well as modernizing the interior which is so needed. SAFETY & INFRASTRUCTURE We are responsible for providing a structurally sound and safe facility for our collegians by upgrading the internal systems. • A fire-safety sprinkler system and a new electrical system can accommodate the modern needs of all computers, printers, and other appliances upon which our members rely. • Energy-efficient windows, proper space allocation and usage, and modernized bathrooms will meet the needs of our members and cut down on facility maintenance expenses. ACADEMIC The primary purpose of all university housing is to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to scholastic achievement. • Multiple areas designated for quiet study and appropriate furnishings will help our members maintain their scholastic focus. • State-of-the-art technology to support electronic and computing-based technologies will be available throughout the house. SOCIAL Adequate communal space in our home is key to fostering the sisterhood that defines Delta Gamma. • This will provide room for chapter and chapter management team meetings, inspiration and initiation, and lectureship receptions, which are examples that will eliminate the need to utilize space on or off campus. • Communal dining space, commercial kitchen and a small, open kitchen will provide members with choices for meals. COMPETITION & VALUE Students and their parents have high expectations for their housing dollars. Amenities offered by residence halls and off-campus apartments, as well as newly renovated Greek chapter houses, require us to reevaluate what we offer our housed and unhoused members. • Our collegians expect and deserve a welcoming, comfortable space to socialize, study, conduct meetings and recruit new members.
