Anchored in Tradition: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future
Our Proud History
D
elta Gamma has been at the heart of Greek life at the University
of Missouri since our founding in 1909. Mu chapter has
nurtured and sustained more than 3,000 women during some of the
most formative years of their lives, cultivating lasting friendships
in the process. As alumnae, we can trace many of our best college
memories back to our Delta Gamma experience.
Mu chapter Delta Gammas enjoy a past filled with a rich tradition and
history, and we still thrive on campus today as a well-rounded, diverse
group of women. There is no doubt that there are many differences
in today's chapter compared to the one that you knew; yet there is an
unbroken chain of Mu sisterhood that is as strong as ever. We alumnae
are entrusted with perpetuating this tradition of excellence for the next
generation.
Sororities play a significant role in the development of young women,
which is crucial in today's competitive world. In addition to the
standards taught by our sisterhood, our members acquire valuable assets,
including leadership skills, team building, academic excellence and
character development. These traits have been integral to our personal
successes and have made us the women that we are today.
Our chapter house at 900 South Providence Road is clearly the
center of undergraduate life for Delta Gamma. It has been a home for
thousands of young women and a classroom where our sisters have
accomplished our objectives, as stated in our Fraternity Constitution:
"to foster high ideals of friendship among women, to promote their
educational and cultural interests, to create in them a true sense
of social responsibility, and to develop in them the best qualities of
character."
If we wish for Delta Gamma to continue its strong presence on MU's
campus, we must ensure that we are providing a safe, modern, and
competitive facility. Now is the appropriate time to secure our future
and theirs.
