A tradition started a year ago, the Lady Spartans and their fans will play up the color pink to raise cancer awareness when they host Par- adise on Feb. 7. The school is seek- ing donations to help cover the costs of obtaining pink jerseys the players can wear during the evening. The uniforms will remain in the athletic program for future teams to use in Pink Out events. The total cost of the jerseys are $1,000 and anyone interested in helping donate to help the school obtain them is asked to con- tact athletic director Rich Hassay at Red Bluff Union High School at 529-8700. This year's event will include a raffle, with all proceeds being donated to a local cancer entity, information booths in the gym lobby and a concession stand filled with "Pink Treats." One of the raffle items will be a hand- made pink quilt donated by the grandmother, Darlene Harrick, of one of the freshman team play- ers, Jami Matheson. The players wish to thank the entire com- munity for their sup- port in starting this new tradition and look forward to see- ing everyone in pink on Feb. 7.
