FAYETTEVILLE faces OF WADE TEW, Owner of Valentine's Florist & Designs By Wade, is the creative genius at both of his Raeford Road and Hope Mills Road locations. Having resided for 31 years in Fayetteville, he has seen the economy pick up somewhat over the years. He enjoys sitting by the fireplace in the mountains catching up on reading. Wade has been reading a lot of Joel Osteen lately and loves kicking back in his black mink covered chaise lounge. Wade loves to see a burst of bright color in each room, and informs us that while neutrals and traditional colors are still going to be 'in' this year, many of his clients still like the color chocolate. NICOLE SULLIVAN, owner of Sweet Boutique Bakery, moved to Fayetteville upon graduating and being commissioned into the Army in 1992. She continually is testing new recipes on her family and friends and if her husband says it's good, it's good, she jokes. As a military spouse and mother of three children and a 100 pound puppy, Nicole does not have much free time, but enjoys visiting local restaurants, languishing over a good cup of coffee, and (believe it or not) reading recipe books and experimenting in her kitchen at home. "The people of our community inspire me endlessly. Our customers have embraced us from day one and many have become personal friends in the process,"said Sullivan. "Customers who come into the store, post positive comments on Facebook, and talk to me when we meet about town motivate me to work hard and continually strive to come up with new and fresh ideas." RICK SWANN, Operations Manager of Crown Coliseum, came to live in Fayetteville in 1975 through the U.S. Army, where he was an electronics technician. Part of his job includes driving the Olym- pia, the ice resurfacer, that keeps the ice smooth for the FireAntz and setting up for all the venues throughout the year, both on and off the ice. Swann is a master of ice and said there is a science behind getting it just right. He adds to it and then softens it for ice shows, than shaves it down and makes it hard and slick for the hockey players. "The best part of my job is watching the end result - the concerts, hockey games and different events, seeing people happy," said Swann. "Lots of good things are going on in Fayetteville, with FORSCOM getting here we've seen the result of the growth." CityViewNC.com | 69
