Watching the snow gracefully fall and frost the trees and rooſtops while sitting by the fireplace is also a winter favorite of mine. Read about one historical home in Fayetteville that has a fireplace in almost every room on page 20. Move over "Real Housewives of New Jersey", the Real Housewives of W Fayetteville are here and they put the New Jersey ladies to shame with all that they accomplish in our community while expertly balancing their busy family lives. Our paparazzi caught up with them downtown for a photo shoot on page 61. Kelly Twedell, features editor 12 | January/February • 2012 t's that time of the year when our resolutions and our good intentions collide with our normal human desires to hibernate. We want to get to the gym to work off the remainders of our holiday overindulgences, but then the cozy blankets and harsh weather conspire to tempt us into staying sedentary indoors. Me? I've got the world's greatest excuse for stay- ing in this winter — I'm pregnant with my third child due in April. The rest of you, however, will appreciate the winter fitness advice we have from some local experts on page 42. I plan to snuggle into my couch with one of the many good books we mention on page 49. (And, for what it's worth, I still go to the gym, too. I guess I could read while riding a stationary bicycle.) Who knows how much snow, if any, we'll get this year, but last year we were blessed with enough for me to get out and snowshoe through Hay- mount, as you can see in my picture here. That's a great workout and lots of fun, but even if we do get that much snow again, I probably won't attempt snowshoeing in my condition this year. I will, however, make some hearty stews and other meals in my slow cooker (page 24) and take my kids to one of Fayetteville's favorite sledding spots (page 29), where I'll watch them en- joy this wintery weather. inter is upon us and some of my best memories are from snowy days spent outside tubing, skiing and building snowmen.
