Mercy was set to return two of the top players from the Tri- Cites League last season in out- side shooter Morgan Hampton- Glines and inside threat Maggie Keller. Add in Corning transfer and all-around athlete Anna Curry and the Lady Warriors thought they had a strong enough nucle- us to be a factor in 2011-12. So far it hasn't been like that. There went that plan. Instead the Lady Warriors are focusing on what they have and trying to improve day. every "You can't cry over spilt milk, what would have been," coach Jim Wilson has repeated on several occasions early this season. While there's surely been some negatives to start they year, there's also been some pleasant surprises. She's racked up an All-Tour- nament honor in her second tournament and has been a dou- ble-double threat whenever she trots onto the floor. Sophomores Michelle Jaramillo and Stefanie Cheek have continued their positive development. Then there's Keller. The expectations on her were high coming into the season, but she has still managed to beat them — pouring in buck- ets, grabbing rebounds and teaching her teammates an unselfish style. So while the expectations for this season have been muted through the first three preseason tournaments, the Lady Warriors will still move forward. They'll concentrate on team- first basketball and developing a core that can take advantage of the breaks when they finally swing back in Mercy's favor. #22 Michelle Jaramillo 5-3 PG/W Sophomore Anna Curry 5-3 G Senior #5 Teresa Yu 5-5 W Senior 1B Thursday December 22, 2011 Hoops Preview Mercy Lady Warriors Jocelyn Chen 5-7 G/W Sophomore #11 Maggie Keller 5-9 W/SG Senior #15 Luisa Bestgen 5-3 W Junior #23 Morgan Hampton-Glines 5-5 SG/W Junior #30 Julia Misslin 5-5 PF/W Sophomore #31 Sarah Williams 4-9 SG Freshman #33 Emyleigh Nelson 5-5 PF Senior #34 Marissa Starman 5-10 PF/P Freshman #44 Stefanie Cheek 5-10 P Sophomore #55 Chloe Gist 5-9 P Sophomore Boosters show support 8-3 7-4 6-4 6-4 2-6 Mid Valley — North 8-0 Hamilton Biggs Los Molinos Quincy Tri-Cities Liberty Christian Maxwell Chester Redding Christian H University Prep Hayfork Mercy 7-4 3-6 1-9 4-2 5-3 5-5 4-4 4-4 0-4 0-9 D NEWSAILY RED BLUFF TEHAMACOUNTY T H E V O I C E O F T E H A M A C O U N T Y S I N C E 1 8 8 5 Courtesy photo The Red Bluff Spartans Booster Club presented the Red Bluff High School basketball program with a check just shy of $5,000 at the Holiday Classic.
