He thanked the audience for the recognition at the ninth an- nual La Paz County Teacher of the Year Banquet held at Salome High School on Friday, April 10, 2015. The event was attended by teach- ers, administrators, board mem- bers, family members, and commu- nity members. Mr. Schuldt teaches Anatomy, Physiology, Physical Education, Health, and other re- lated subjects along with being the Athletic Director, coaching sev- eral sports, and organizing school and community events to support student athletes. He received a crystal apple award, plaque, and will receive a check for $1000. A perpetual plaque will be displayed at Salome High School and in the La Paz County School Superinten- dent's Offi ce. Other teachers recognized from their respective schools were: T o m de Gruyter, Ehrenberg Elementary School; Helen Pianga, Quartzsite Elementary School; Nercita Paner- galin, Salome Elementary School; and Susan Rohrig, Wenden El- ementary School. Each teacher received a crystal apple award and will receive a $100 check. Judges this year included Tammy Thorn, Beaver Insurance; Kathy Ocampo, Interim Associate Dean of Arizona Western College; Duce Minor, Parker Area Al- liance Community Empower- ment Director; Rudy Parker, retired Parker Unifi ed School District board member; and Kevin Uden, retired Parker Unifi ed School District super- intendent. Members of the panel stated they had a very diffi cult time choosing between all of the outstanding nominees and that rural teachers are exceptionally knowledgeable and well prepared to educate our children. The La Paz County Teacher of the Year Program and Banquet has been supported by signifi cant donations from Arizona Public Service Com- pany every year since its inception. Other organizations that made gen- erous donations this year include McMullen Valley Water Conserva- tion and Drainage District, LKH Farming, Growers Oil Company, Inc., Nu Vu Beauty Salon, B.U.H.S. Booster Club, Bagnall Company, Udall Shumway PLC, and Beaver Insurance. Dinner and decorations were provided by the Salome High School Culinary Arts students and their teacher, Ms. Lowette Diehl. Ms. Diehl and Mr. Maynes have been very supportive over the years in making this a special night for everyone involved. Mr. Andrew Kaufman of Salome High School was the MC for the night's program. "This is a wonderful event to showcase the dedicated and caring teachers that work in rural La Paz County. It is a great example of people coming to- gether to support the work of pub- lic education in our communities," said Jacque Price, County School Superintendent.
