Always Alpha Phi 4 Silent Chapter Mary Keller Gard '60 entered the Silent Chapter on May 31, 2014. Her career included work as a reporter for the Associated Press in Chicago and positions in marketing, public and media relations, and communication with the Kansas City Public School District, Bethany Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, and KU Medical Center. After retirement she worked in the Kansas City Missouri Municipal Court as an advocate for abused children. She was an MU Extension Master Gardner, a freelance writer, a teacher, a loving wife and mother, and a doting grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Lowell; her sons, Robert and Craig; two grandchildren; and stepchildren and step grandchildren. Alumnae Update Carol Swank Miller '45 moved to Tomball, Texas, to be closer to her family. She has four children, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Kathie Thomas Knehans '66 works as a chaplain at a children's hospital in Blue Springs, Mo. She participated in a cruise of the British Isles in July with the MU Alumni Association. "2014 saw us in Australia, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and Panama Canal. In December 2014, we celebrated cruise number 300. We have also been invited to a two-night naming ceremony for Royal Caribbean's newest ship, Quantum of the Seas."
