Rolling Hills Casino supplied the laptops. Parent University teaches parents about the shi s in the Common Core State Standards and strategies for supporting their children at home. The students developed a sound story out of the book "The Windy Day" and brought it alive with characters, instruments, song, costumes and even a flying kite. PERFORMANCE 'THE WINDY DAY' REDDING Eleven gradu- ating high school student- athletes have been chosen as the first Nor-Cal Retired Coaches Association schol- arship recipients. The student athletes were selected from 67 applicants from Shasta, Siskiyou, Te- hama, and Trinity counties based on academic achieve- ment, athletic participation, citizenship, community in- volvement and future edu- cational aspirations. Each student will receive a $1,200 scholarship upon enrollment at a post-sec- ondary institution of their choice. They will be recog- nized at the Nor-Cal Retired Coaches Association Schol- arship Luncheon at noon Wednesday, May 13 at the Riverview Golf and Coun- try Club, Redding. The student has been coaching all of the stu- dents from kindergarten through 5th grade, teach- ing them all of the skills they need to play the game along with drills to perfect those skills. He has been providing instruction in soccer on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but also comes on Fridays to play other sports, like basketball, with the stu- dents.
