Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Missouri • Spring 2015 Seeking New Heights for Alpha Nu Capital Campaign Winds Down Alumnae and Friends Raise $417,000 and Chapter Adds $200,000 T he campaign board and era/class leaders are thrilled to announce that we have raised $617,000 to date to renovate the Alpha Nu house, with significant help from the chapter. Although fundraising efforts are winding down for the Seeking New Heights for Alpha Nu capital campaign, there are still some outstanding verbal pledges which need follow-up and hopefully will increase the final total. Our participation percentage is 16.4 percent, which moves us closer to the typical campaign participation rate of 20-25 percent for sororities. We are still accepting donations and pledges at alphanu.kintera.org/campaign. Thank you, loyal alumnae, friends, parents, and the Alpha Nu chapter, for your generosity. We would not have been able to raise the funds necessary for the renovation without the work of our campaign board and class/era leaders. We appreciate their willingness to reach out to members to request a donation, keep the records, and acknowledge all donors. Thank you. New Parking Lot Ready by August Chapter Goes Green and Renovations Begin Upstairs T he highlight of the House Corporation Board's summer 2015 work will be completion of the chapter's new parking lot on Tiger Ave. (formerly Maryland Ave.), less than 50 yards from the chapter house and with more parking than the old lot. Well-lit and landscaped, the lot will be ready when members return in August for recruitment. Other planned work includes refinishing wood and vinyl floors, new bedroom furniture and mattresses as first steps in the renovation of the second and third floors. Other priorities include replacing fire doors, replacing the boiler, modifying clothes dryer and kitchen hood ventilation, painting the exterior and installing a security system with cameras. Chapter members are joining the HCB to go green and have implemented numerous energy-saving tactics already, with more to come. The sustainability committee of the HCB engaged a consultant for an energy audit in fall of 2014 and are making many of the suggested changes. In support of these efforts, Alpha Nu was awarded a $500 sustainability grant from ACW National Headquarters in early March. Kim Smith '75 heads the sustainability committee of the HCB and wrote the grant application. The grant money will be used to begin installing energy-efficient light bulbs throughout the house.
