Summer is an excit ing t ime of t he year for children — no school, warm weat her, long days and ex t ra sleep. But t his can also present a dilemma for parent s who want to pro- v ide f un summer act iv it ies for t heir children w it hout hav ing t hem st uck indoors. FTCC has t he solut ion, and it 's called Summerscapes. Children ages 8-18 can get involved in f un classes at FTCC to express t heir cre- at iv it y while t hey discover new t alent s. W hile children may be more interested in t he f un classes, parent s especially like t he aca- demic ref resher courses. These are of fered to help st udent s master t he grade- level object ives set by t he st ate of Nor t h Carolina. Our technolog y classes t aught by Simulat ion and Game development facult y at FTCC w ill challenge your child's mind while af fording t hem t he oppor t unit y to gain new sk ills and k nowledge and have f un while doing it . Check out t he list of classes, get your children registered, and let t hem at tend as many classes as t heir schedule w ill allow. These classes are t aught by t alented, mot ivated inst ructors who w ill prov ide a posit ive learning env ironment for your children. W het her your child enjoys ar t, photography, reading , cook ing or music, Summerscapes has it all! Some of t he most popular classes include car toon draw ing , yoga, golf, creat ive cupcakes, g uit ar, reading and mat h ref resher and technolog y classes. The Summerscapes program begins June 15, a st ar t date t hat allows par t icipat ion by year-round st udent s. Classes run t hrough t he middle of Aug ust . Classes listed in t he Spring Course Schedule are only t he begin- ning — watch for addit ional classes ( July and Aug ust) in t he Summer Course Schedule. FTCC can of fer t hese self-suppor t ing courses only dur- ing t he summer, so t ake advant age of t hese enjoyable, inexpensive learn- ing oppor t unit ies for your child. W hile t hese courses are of fered to t he public at a discounted rate, some may require t hat supplies be brought to class. These addit ional fees w ill be kept as low as possible. On t he day of your child's class, please come into t he classroom w it h your child to meet t he inst ructor, discuss supplies and prov ide a cont act number. Classrooms are not open unt il t ime for class to st ar t, so please do not drop of f your child early. W hen you register for t hese classes, please f ill out a cont act form and eit her leave it or bring it to class on t he f irst day. A lso, children w ill need to be picked up immediately af ter class ends. For securit y pur- poses, you w ill be required to accompany your child to t he classroom (ever y class meet ing) and pick t hem up f rom t he classroom. Since class sizes are limited, st udent s must pre-register for all Summerscapes cours- es. Sign your child up today!
