Butte County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Mi- randa Bowersox said search and rescue crews found the 18-year- old's body in the water at about 11:25 a.m. Monday. Bowersox said the body appears to have been in the water for about two weeks, the approximate time Lucero has been missing. The body was positively identi- fied as Lucero due to the tattoos and jewelry he was wearing, she said. His family has been notified. No foul play is suspected. Bowersox said authorities don't know where along the river Lucero entered the water, but he was found in an area where the water was about 10 feet deep. Lucero went missing Easter Sunday after he and a friend went hiking along the flumes of the West Branch. Estes was traveling south on Paskenta Road, south of Gyle Road, in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala about 6 p.m. Friday when she lost control of her vehicle after drifting into the northbound lane, according to the California Highway Patrol. Estes over-corrected her vehicle by turning back toward the southbound lane, lost control, traveled off the west roadway edge and through a field fence, rolling over more than once, accord- ing to the CHP. The vehicle came to a rest on its passenger side, and Estes suffered fatal injuries in the crash, ac- cording to the CHP. Estes was traveling at an unknown speed at the time of the wreck, and no other injuries were reported. According to the CHP, Estes was not wearing a seat belt at the time, and the crash remained under investigation. A celebration of Estes's life is scheduled to be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Paskenta Community Hall, 13140 Toomes Camp Road, according to the hall's Facebook page. Staff Reports RED BLUFF The 94th Red Bluff Round-Up rodeo, which attracts the top ro- deo athletes across the na- tion, concluded Sunday at the Tehama District Fair- ground. Erich Rogers of Round Rock, Arizona and Cory Petska of Marana, Arizona, described as friends in and out of the arena, won the team roping title on Sunday with a time of 22.4 seconds on four runs, according to a press release. The team, which began roping together three years ago, is ranked fourth in the nation and won $3,226 at the Round-Up, the release said. "He's a good partner," Rogers said of Petska. "He's a good friend outside the arena, too. I hang out with him 24/7." Petska, who has qualified for 11 Wrangler National Fi- nals Rodeos, said the team has good chemistry. "We have fun in and out- side the arena, and that makes rodeo fun," he said. Rogers has qualified for four Wangler National Fi- nals, and the team has won checks at rodeos in Longan- dale, Utah; Tucson, Arizona; San Angelo, Texas; and Scottsdale, Arizona, among others, the release said. Tyler Waguespack, 24, of Gonzales, Louisiana, who competed at the Round-Up for the first time, was the steer wrestling champion with a total time of 21.6 sec- onds on four head. "My buddy Jason (Thomp- son) talked me into coming out here this year," Wagues- pack said. "This is a great ro- deo, and he got me hooked. I will be coming back."
