It was Oakland's shortstop of the last two seasons, Jed Lowrie, who stole the show however, hitting a two-run homer and an RBI double as the Houston Astros kept the A's from a series sweep with a 6-1 win. Lowrie, who had never faced A's starter Drew Pomeranz be- fore, crushed a one-out homer in the bottom of the first to get the Astros out to the lead, then came up two innings later with an opposite-field double good for another run. That, coupled with the 11-strikeout performance of second-year Astros starter Col- lin McHugh, was more than Oakland could handle as the A's two-game winning streak came to an end. Answers about the status of coach Todd McLellan will still have to wait. The Sharks held their annual clean out day on Wednesday with players undergoing physi- cals, management and coaches starting to meet with players and the organization undergoing the review process after a disap- pointing season. But McLellan said he has not decided yet whether he wants to come back for the final year of his contract and the organiza- tion hasn't decided whether to bring him back either. McLellan said he needs to talk more with his family, as well as members of the organization, before that final decision can be made. McLellan said he expects his future to be resolved by the time he leaves April 24 to coach Team Canada in the upcoming World Championship. "There's a lot that goes into a review," McLellan said. "Organi- zationally too. We've got a lot of decisions that have to be made.
