3 Pi Beta Phi A fter a much-needed holiday break, the members of the Cal Gamma Chapter of Pi Beta Phi are embracing the new year with enthusiasm and optimism as we prepare for our last semester of the school year. On behalf of the newly elected executive board, I would like to thank all of the wonderful alumnae for your ongoing support. We are so excited to see what this year has in store for us! CAL GAMMA TOP IN GRADES I am proud to say that our Chapter's GPA from last semester was higher than the USC all-women's average, USC's undergraduate average, and the all-Greek average. Commitment to academics remains a top priority for us, and I am delighted to see all of the girls' hard work pay off. Additionally, last semester our Chapter raised almost $38,000 through our numerous philanthropic efforts. Because of this amazing feat, our outgoing vice president of philanthropy, Darby Drake '13, received the Greek Service Award at the 2014 Greek Awards Ceremony. It was quite an honor. QUALITY TIME WITH FAMILY This February, we hosted our annual mother-daughter and father-daughter events. We had parents from all over, from Hawaii to Canada, make the trip to USC for this fun-filled weekend. For the father-daughter event, our members and their fathers met at an amusement park to enjoy an afternoon of mini-golf, go-cart races, and other activities. The following day, we met at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a mother-daughter afternoon tea. We had great attendance at both events. They provided us with an opportunity to spend quality time with our parents, while also allowing us to establish new relationships with our sisters and their parents. We cannot wait for the rest of the semester to unfold, as we have many exciting events to look forward to: Beaux and Arrows invite, Founders Day celebrations, Fraternity Day of Service, Pi Social (our country-themed philanthropy), My Tie invite, Senior Week, and several sisterhood events. And, as the school year comes to a close, we have already begun plan- ning for our fall recruitment. I have no doubt that we will be welcoming another fabulous new member class to the California Gamma Chapter of Pi Beta Phi!
