Pi Beta Phi ENTRE NOUS More Kitchen Work to Be Completed— Help Us Reach Our Goal House Corporation Gears Up for Busy Summer EDITOR Laurie Bayless Maslauski '73 lbmaslauski@cox.net COLLEGIATE CORRESPONDENT Allie McBeath '13 P i B e t a P h i a t t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f S o u t h e r n C a l i f o r n i a • S p r i n g 2 0 1 5 S pring is in the air! Although we can't really call our beautiful year-round California weather "winter," I always enjoy the new flowers blos- soming, the birds singing, and the sun setting later in the evening. As my fourth child celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday at school, I came across a quote of his: "You're in pretty good shape for the shape you are in." I spontaneously thought of our California Gamma Chapter House. It's a quirky saying, the kind that you are uncertain if it's a compliment or viewed as a jab. I guess many of us could see this as a realistic overview of many of our own situations or someone's appearance. In the case of our over 40-year-old house and thousands of Pi Phis calling 667 W. 28th Street their home, I would count it as a welcome and accurate account of our beloved Cal Gamma home! Thank you to all who have gra- ciously donated to our kitchen renovation fund. Because of the generous contributions from two major donors last summer and many of you who donated in response to our kitchen solic- itation last fall, we are closer to our goal. We have raised $170,000 and still have over $50,000 to go! We appreciate a donation in any amount to help us reach this important goal. The actives, as well as our kitchen staff, have enjoyed the upgrades to the kitchen so far. We've made progress but we still have more work to do! As I have mentioned in my past letters, summer is our busy time for our hard-working House Corporation members. There's still much to be done with our aging house. Air conditioning, paint upkeep, and general maintenance from the day-to-day use are just a few examples of the work ahead of us. Please stop by the house and look around. So many memo- ries will come flowing back in your mind. The house hasn't changed, just the faces and the years, but we all have a com- mon love for our Pi Beta Phi. Yours in Pi Beta Phi, Susan Brownfield Beall '85 House Corporation President thebealls@yahoo.com "You're in pretty good shape for the shape you are in." ~ Dr. Seuss P i Phi donors may now make contributions online!
