Ann Burks
We caught up with Ann
Burks in the Crown Expo
Center, while she volun-
teered at Operation Holiday
Cheer. Ann was volunteer-
ing with the Pilot Club of
Fayetteville, an Alzheimer's
support group that spon-
sors "Lifesavers", an elec-
tronic GPS device that helps
locate patients who may
wander and become lost.
Ann moved to Fayetteville
28 years ago from Baton
Rouge, Louisiana with her
husband William, a comp-
troller in the Air Force.

The season of Awe and Wander
is here as the "Nutcracker Ballet"
comes to the Crown Center The-
atre!
The North Carolina State Ballet
production of the "Nutcracker Bal-
let", directed by Charlotte Blume,
has a cast of 60 Dancers and Ac-
tors. International Guest Artists,
Barbara Toth and Wei Ni perform
the principal roles of Sugar Plum
Fairy and Cavalier. Additionally, Mr.
Ni will dance the Nutcracker Prince
in the ¿ rst act with Anne Talkington
or Dara Buffaloe who alternate as
Clara. Daniel Moore performs as
Drosselmeyer, The Magician. April
Glasper is the Flower Queen.
Mr. Ni trained in China and has
performed with the Tulsa Ballet
Theater, Cincinnati Ballet and the
Pittsburgh Ballet Theater. Ms. Toth
was trained in Budapest and has
performed extensively in Europe.
Shows are Sun., Dec., 6, Sat.,
Dec., 12 & Sun., Dec., 13 at 3 pm.
Tickets for general admission seat-
ing are $14.00, and are available at
the Crown Center Box Of¿ ce.
Military Appreciation Day is Sat.,
Dec/. 12. Military Personnel may
