LCA Lambda lamp AlphA-DeltA ZetA At Missouri university of science AnD technology | spring 2015 $168,884 Raised toward Matching Gift Challenge Your Support Is Needed to Take Advantage of This Opportunity—Don't Leave Money on the Table! O ur building campaign and construction project are progressing at breakneck speed. Since October, more than 30 brothers have answered the call to participate in the $450,000 matching challenge. As a reminder, a group of anonymous brothers has generously invested in the project by agreeing to match every new gift, pledge, or increases to previous pledges made through April 30, 2015. To help reach our goal, our challengers have agreed to extend the challenge through the end of 2015. If our alumni brothers contribute a total of $450,000 in new gifts and pledges, these brothers will match that entire amount, providing a total of $900,000 in additional funding. Since the match started, we have received $84,442 in new gifts and pledges toward the challenge, which equals $168,884 total when matched by our challenge donors. This is a good start, but we need the support of many more alumni to take full advantage of this unique opportunity. To date, 125 alumni have participated in the campaign, bringing our total raised to $1,924,690, which is 69% of our $2.8 million goal in just a little more than two years. One donor recently commented that he may not have made a contribution, but once he was asked, he just couldn't say no. Can we count on you to join him? Are We Missing You in Our Chapter House Project? If you have not made a pledge or gift, please do so now! Join more than 120 of your loyal fraternity brothers in this effort. We hope you will ask yourself how you can be a part of this challenge and support your Fraternity in a meaningful way. All donors who contribute $2,500 or more will be recognized on a plaque in our renovated Chapter House. However, any size gift is needed and appreciated. Remember that five-year pledges are available, making it more manageable to give. A monthly payment of $42 becomes a total gift of $2,500 over five years, which turns into $5,000 for the campaign through our matching gift challenge. Please use the enclosed pledge form to make your gift today. Top of the List ADZ Memories Inspire Mike Svoboda '71 to Pay It Forward A s Mike Svoboda '71 reflects on his undergraduate experience, the first thing that comes to his mind isn't classes or the university. Alpha-Delta Zeta is the foundation of his fondest college memories. When he had an opportunity to secure the Lambda Chi experience for future members through the Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future campaign, Mike didn't hesitate. "We all benefited in so many ways as brothers of LCA that to me supporting the campaign was a no-brainer. Other fraternities have or are already building new facilities," Mike said. "I worked with a young man this summer who is a PKT at Rolla. His brothers have already raised over $3 million in one summer for a totally new house, not just a makeover. We have to compete to stay viable." (Continued on page 3)
