24 | April 2015 T he Fayetteville Urban Ministry's popular fun- draiser, the Duck Derby, will make its debut at the Dogwood Festival on the Sunday aernoon of April 26th. e event, now in it's fih year, has been pre- viously held at Cumberland Land- ing at the Cape Fear River. Now, these two powerhouse events have joined forces. "What makes it so wonderful is that it's a true race, a true lottery system. Two of our win- ners have only adopted one duck," explained Johnny Wilson, execu- tive director of Fayetteville Urban Ministry. In the past four years, $225,000 has been raised, money that has unrestricted use within the Urban Ministry. "Teaming up with the Dogwood Festival is a win-win. e Dogwood Festival is really in line with Urban Ministry. We al- ways support other events, chari- ties. ere's enough time, talent and treasure that everyone can be apart of it. We are all in this together," said Wilson. Other non-profits can participate and sponsor ducks while receiving a portion of the proceeds.
