That tide didn't seem likely to be reversed, and adding to the fact that the series' period setting made it costly to produce, the network decided to cut its losses and cancel the show. Production on several more episodes had been completed when the plug was pulled, but it remains to be seen whether they'll be shown anywhere. A : Well, we can assure you it's not a Bravo plot specifically against Buffalo. If you're not seeing it there, it's not being seen on Bravo in Oshkosh either. Once a mainstay of the network, the James Lipton- hosted show is erratically scheduled now, an understandable source of frustration for its fans (who also include us). When it is scheduled, there usually isn't a great deal of advance notice, so all we can say is that we feel your pain. If it's a consolation, segments from various episodes can be found at www.bravotv.com; when we looked, we saw several each from relatively recent episodes featuring Jennifer Aniston and the cast of ABC's "Modern Family." Fla. : The CBS show had its roots in the 1971 TV movie "The Homecoming: A Christmas Story," in which Oscar winner Patricia Neal had the Olivia Walton role that Learned would play in the series, while Andrew Duggan was the original John Walton (preceding Waite). The weekly show began in the fall of 1972 and lasted until 1981, with a total of six sequel movies following. Learned actually has returned to television work lately, taking over temporarily for Jeanne Cooper — who is on a medical leave — as Katherine Chancellor on the CBS daytime drama staple "The Young and the Restless." However, it's not the first time Learned has done soap opera duty; she also had stints on what was until recently the ABC troika of "All My Children," "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital."
