The anticipation is half the joy. I am a little strange, no comments please, because I also enjoy deadlines. Maybe because I am a task-oriented person, or maybe because it means that a project will not go on forever. No matter the reason, the Ole Miss schedule, both the beginning and the ending, means the projects that the House Corporation faces this year have very concrete deadlines. It will be a big challenge, and I love a challenge, to complete the long list of improvements we have planned for this year. On February 7, the Alpha Delta House Corporation met with our new collegiate executive committee. We accomplished so much and formulated a long list of wants, needs, and changes. As I have mentioned in the past, Alpha Delta is busting at the seams in all areas—eating, seating, meeting, and even bathing! We continue to strive to keep our space updated and a safe place for our women. Here is a short list of the updates in our future: • A state-of-the-art security system complete with outside cameras and key fobs that can be utilized to take attendance at chapter meetings. It will also allow us to restrict the upstairs at specific times, such as football games. • A complete renovation of the common bathroom upstairs. • New freezer and stove top, as well as a plan for better utilizing our kitchen. • Updating the upstairs patio area with new furniture. • Painting the upstairs balcony, some bedrooms, and replacing the balcony railing. • New rocking chairs, 10 new beds and mattresses. • Repurposing the library into a TV/common area with more seating. The end of the Ole Miss school year will bring the beginning of many projects at the Phi Mu house. We look forward to enhancing this space for present and future Phi Mu sisters. Please look forward to an update from The Lion and the Ladybug in early September containing an invitation to our football open house.
