KKG Kappa Kappa Gamma 3 Epsilon Beta Flew Through Fall Academics, Philanthropy, and Alumnae Involvement Continue Momentum L ast semester was great for the women of the Epsilon Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. During the summer preceding our fall 2014 semester, seven women went to Uganda and volunteered for Peace for Children Africa. The trip lasted three weeks, during which they did extensive work to help children and their communities. KKG Teams with SC for Philanthropy In the fall, our chapter raised $2,800 for Reading Is Fundamental and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation through our fall philanthropy, Chili Con Kappa. Our chapter partnered with the Sigma Chi fraternity for this event. While our women served chili, the men of Sigma Chi hosted A Sigma Chi Affair in our backyard, consisting of carnival games and fun prizes for a few extra dollars to participate. This joint effort was very successful and we were happy to help a fellow Greek organization who does not have their own chapter facility to host events. We hope to do more of this co- sponsorship in the future as it was mutually beneficial to both chapters. Many women also participated in Dance Marathon, which was an all-day event where we danced with kids from the Children's Hospital. Kappas on Campus We have two women representing our chapter on the Panhellenic Council at CSU this year: Giovanna Knudsen '13 was elected vice president of community service and philanthropy, and Jordan Paulus '13 was elected vice president of scholarship. Our chapter has remained high in GPA rankings with a 3.092 last semester, making us third of nine Panhellenic organizations on campus. Alumnae Return for Founder's Day Our external relations with local alumnae have drastically increased in the recent semester. For Founder's Day in October, we had a larger scale event than years past where our chapter reinvented the celebration and had over 400% increase in alumnae attendance. We started with a meet-and-greet at our house where alumnae had mocktails and tours while reconnecting and reminiscing with friends. The celebration was then taken to the Lincoln Center for a formal banquet and celebration of Founder's Day. This special evening included a performance from the USO Kappa Pickers singing group from the 1970s. They partnered with our chapter's active Kappa Pickers for a truly magical performance. All in all, our chapter is looking forward to continuing in this positive direction. We cannot wait for new accomplishments this semester!
