2A Daily News –Wednesday, November 23, 2011 Community people&events Masons install leaders Thankful for change Tomorrow is Thanksgiving which I am celebrating in another state known for sunshine and hula skirts. It has been way too long since I have gotten away with my family on a real vacation. The kids range in stages of grown to nearly grown and it is fun to vacation with independent people who don't require a packed household to travel. Life is on an upswing. Eastern Woman Writes About Her Son's Trunk Here Mrs. B. Delaney, 56 West Rochester avenue, Rochester New York, has written to the City Marshal Frank Montgomery of Red Bluff, inquiring about a trunk left here by her late son, Harry R. Delaney, who died in this city on October 8 last, after a compara- tively brief illness. He was working with the carnival when he became sick. — Nov. 23, 1921 2002 graduate of Prospect High School in Saratoga. He graduated from St. Mary's College of California with a Bachelor of Arts in 2006 and from UC Hastings College of Law in San Francisco in 2009. He is employed as an associate attorney at the law firm of Ruiz and Sper- Christmas parade ow LLP Katie Silva, a cousin of the bride, served as Matron of Honor and Jeremy Lamb, a friend of the groom, served as Best Man. Emily Kramer, cousin of the bride; Melissa Boyes Snider, friend of the bride; Eleni Papailias, friend of the bride; and Jenise have written about these last five years, you can't know good with- out knowing the bad. You can't be happy without having been sad. You can't be something if you haven't had nothing and wanted more. It is all about change. The only certain thing in life is that it is uncertain and will change. Love your life? Something will change to challenge you. Hate your life? Something will change to chal- lenge you. Have it all? You may lose it in an instant. Lost it all? It comes back to you if you are a part of the solution. I am thankful for change this season. I am thankful for learning lessons when things weren't well. I am thankful for finding friends and shedding pain and letting go of the need to control every, little, thing. I am thankful for change. I am thankful for my new home, my family and my dog. I am thankful for how well my children have taken on their lives and excited to see where we all end up after it is all said and done. Sometimes when we lose things in life we feel that we may never see the better times again. The better times come for sure. What is important is to not let the memory of the bad times dampen the excite- ment of the new good times. If you failed and things improve, be happy not guilty. Sometimes we feel we don't deserve good things after we have lived through a tragedy or a self-induced trauma. You do. You have learned new lessons and have wonderful opportunities before you to do things in a better and different way. Faydra Rector You Matter to understand that it all comes and goes. We all come and go. We are all mortal. We will all leave this place for a far better adventure. Enjoy the change. Embrace it as a transient part of your life. Take the good and the bad with thanks for they both have something to offer. Last year my Thanksgiving was vast- ly different than this year. Last year I was filled with uncertainty and looking for a full time job. Money was a serious issue. This year I am sit- ting on the beach watching my kids surf and make memories. I am blessed. Change is all there is. The sea- sons change. The stock market changes. Spouses change their minds. Our bodies change. Even Starbucks changes their menu.
