Beta Tau ConnSKtion Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa Sorority at the University of Florida Spring 2015 Sigma Kappa pride runS HigH witH alumnae Social Events Remain Top Priority for Beta Tau Women T hank you to everyone who has reached out to us or stopped by for a visit to the chapter house. We love meeting sisters of all ages and hearing about the incredible things our sisters are accomplishing. I am so proud to be a part of this talented, passionate group of women. With all of the exciting changes that Beta Tau has in the coming year, we hope that you will reconnect and celebrate with us. Last fall, alumnae represented Sigma Kappa in the Gainesville Walk to End Alzheimer's. We walked three miles to bring awareness to this great, cause while also getting to know our collegians and supporting our philanthropy. Beta Tau had an outstanding showing and raised more funds than any other group in our area. What an achievement! In October, many of our alumnae met at the Plaza of the Americas for our second-annual Homecoming tailgate. We had a blast watching the earlier games on television, eating lunch, and playing yard games while we mingled and caught up with fellow Gator Sigma Kappas and their families. We were right across from the Pride of the Sunshine band as they marched to the stadium during Gator Walk. Plus, I was able to reminisce and cheer on the Gators from my seat in the Sigma Kappa block. Mark your calendars for our spring Alumnae Weekend, March 27-29. We will pin sisters who have been initiated for 25+ years, with special recognition for anyone who has reached 50 years. The annual corporation meeting is also scheduled for that Sunday for anyone interested in hearing the state of the corporation or to give feedback. We would love to see you there! In Sigma, Carly Van Ostrand Autrey '05 Vice President, Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa T his has been a big year for the Beta Tau Chapter of Sigma Kappa. We welcomed 119 new members home on Bid Day who went on to participate in numerous Panhellenic events representing our chapter with pride. We are so proud to have won the Outstanding Philanthropy Award for our Ultra Violet Week campaign and the Greek Collaboration Award for our event with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. at the 2014 Florida Greek Awards Banquet. Walk to End Alzheimer's this year was a big hit. We were well represented as we raised $7,294 making Sigma Kappa the top team and surpassing our goals from previous years. We also look forward to participating in this year's University of Florida Dance Marathon. We have raised our fundraising goal by $15,000 this year, making our total goal $50,000! Dance Marathon benefits UF Health Shands Children Hospital, a cause that has helped one of our own, as well as our miracle child, Sage. In March we will host Alumnae Weekend on the 27th–29th, as well as our second- annual Sigma Stacks pancake breakfast benefiting the Ultra Violet Campaign on Friday, March 27. We will host our annual Maine Sea Coast dinner on Wednesday, March 25. Beta Tau sisters are excited for this year and would love to include our lovely alumnae by welcoming everyone and encouraging donations to Dance Marathon and Sigma Kappa Beta Tau. SLAM!
