This is a time of year when we, hopefully, pause to think of all those things we have to be thankful for. And we here in Fayetteville have much to be thankful for. This is the perfect time of year to spend time with family and friends and rekindle past relationships. It is a time to exchange pleas- antries with co-workers and to spend extra time with family members. It is also a time to remember those who serve in our armed forces as well as their families and thank them for their service to our country. I also wanted to remind you to remember all the small busi- nesses this holiday season and shop locally in our community. There sometimes is a misconception that shopping locally is more expensive or offers less variety, but it actually brings key social and economic benefi ts. Other major advantages include a more distinc- tive shopping experience, a more direct, responsive relationship with customers, high standards of customer care and service, generous support for local charities and community events and help in pre- serving private, voluntary and public sector services. The Chamber had several successes this year for our community and laid the foundation for even more in the next year. There is a lot of work to be done in 2010 by the Chamber staff and all of our members, and we are excited about the challenges we will face together. We look forward to a joyous holiday season, and pass that same warmth and happiness onto you and your families during this wonderful time of year.
