T h e EACON spring 2015 B Capital Campaign Enters Final Phase Opportunity to Support Building for the Future, A Lifetime of Brotherhood Ends July 1 B rothers, we are so close to hitting our goal, we can taste it! Only $24,000 is standing between us and $3 mil- lion! To an individual brother, $24,000 may sound insurmount- able, but when you combine the powers of our 243 donors and the giving potential of our 1,160 active alumni, there is no reason we shouldn't be able to hit this benchmark. As shared in previous communications, Delta Kappa's ultimate goal is to surpass $3 million as to better manage the additional financing to complete the project. In order to build the facility that we needed and desired we unfortunately could not rely on donations alone, and now the chapter has a significant mortgage that we hope to deplete over the next few years. You can help us manage this debt by making a gift TODAY. Your gift could be the difference in us hitting $3 million or exceeding it. It could also be the difference in how competitive our membership dues will remain, impacting the potential gain or loss of outstanding members and recruits. Your donation can do many things for Delta Kappa, and we hope that we will have your support in these final months of fundraising. Whether you've made a pledge previously or have been waiting on the side- lines, it's time to revisit where you stand with the chapter and what difference you want to make. With Spring Game set for April 11, we hope you'll come home to visit 1310 College. It's an amazing facility full of exceptional young men who continue to impress us with their accomplishments on campus and within the Greek community. Mark your calendars now and plan to make the trip to Norman. And in the meantime, consider the difference you could make by sending in the enclosed pledge card with your gift. Love & Respect, Mel Clark, M.D. '70 Campaign Chairman (405) 365-3558 melandmarybeeclark@gmail.com P.S. A list of all contributors is on page 2. Every gift will be recognized in some way at the house, but only those who contribute a minimum gift of $2,500 will be on the official plaque at the conclusion of the campaign. Will your name be on it? Return your gift by July 1 to secure your listing. W hy did you decide to join Alpha Tau Omega might not always be an easy question to answer, and certainly not a linear one at that; but for the Dukes brothers it is. "ATWs were the type of guys that I wanted to emulate. It was an environment that was conducive for me to pursue my goals," says Kevin Dukes '82. Their decision to make Delta Kappa their outlet for campus involvement revolved around the men they knew and met during recruitment. For Bob Dukes '75 this included Bill Duzan '72, Windler Schweer '73, Doug Queen '73, Tim Hight '73, Ralph Blackman '74, Bill Coleman '74, and Rich Kimberlin '73. "With the level of high-quality guys I either knew or met, I felt comfortable the same qualities were in other members of the chapter," he says. In 1976, just two years after Bob joined ATW, Greg Dukes '77 experienced the same sentiment going through recruitment and says, "Bob and a close family friend, David Ruble '75, were the recruitment chairmen that year—I A L P H A T A U O M E G A • D E L T A K A P P A C H A P T E R Dukes Brothers Create anD Leave LegaCy at DeLta kappa Bob Dukes '75, Greg Dukes '77, and Kevin Dukes '82—Why We Gave (Continued on page 5)
